My Grandfather was having severe pain andomen & breathlessness, he was taken to Action Balajee medical Institute, Paschim Vihar, New Delhi on 26.05.08 at 3:00 am .
the doctor in casualty admitted him under Internal Medicine doctor (Dr Dharmendra)with provisional diagnosis of ? Koch's Abdomen.
he underwent few blood test & 2 xray s related to pain abdomen .
Later in morning he was suspected of pleural fluid in his lungs by Dr Dharmender during his visit.
but no medicines were given .At 10 am i called nurse since my grandfather could hardly breathe and his pain was increasing .No medication or treatment was given by the doctors .They kept on saying that they are waiting for results of the investigations, only then they will start the treatment .
He was put on spo2 (pulse oxymeter) monitoring at around 12 noon after our requests to nurse.
Till 5 pm no doctor came to see him, his condition was deteriorated . He was shifted to icu at around 5:30 pm after Dr Dharmender had finally arrived .
No cardilogist was called, first ecg was taken at 5:42 pm in icu .
second ecg took place at 7:12 pm .
nobody updated us of what was happening to my granfather .the doctors asked us to go home since he was in icu and if reqd they will call us on our mobiles.
Still before leaving we wanted to see him, after an argument with the scurity guard finally my uncle went inside the icu to see his father only to find that my grandfather was fighting with a severe cardiac arrest at 8:35 pm .
doctors were resucitating him but he could not be revived and he passed away at 9:05 pm.
we never expected him to go like this UNATTENDED, WITHOUT GIVEN TREATMENT & UNDIAGNOSED.
the whole family is in shock cursing ourselves for choosing action balajee as our healthcare provider .
had the symptoms (pain abd & breathlessness) been taken care by the doctors, my granfather could have been given appropriate treatment & we could have saved him from dying.
My grand father had no history os any cardiac ailment .
please do something or guide me where to lodge complaint against the hospital suthorities.
