most of the people got mail from BMW promo i too got it, i want to conform how the mistake happen through BMW Motors, kindly respond quickly & dont let the people into confusion, if any one found frod & the culprit would punished.

It's a scam. Once you pay the money, they will stop contacting you. These scams are VERY common on the internet and are known as 419 scams - because they originated from Nigeria, and the cheating clause there in their penal code is 419 (like ours is 420).
A simple rule I follow is "if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is". I bet you don't remember ever applying for this draw etc.
Also, if you look at the e-mail addresses the mails have come from (and you have been asked to mail to), how come such big companies do not have their own domain name? How come they are using Hotmail etc., instead of [protected]@bmw.com, or [protected]@elitecouriers.com. Even the smallest company in India these days has its own personalised e-mail ID.

I too received the same email from [protected]@bmw.org. Thanks to googe which showed me this consumer complaint. I am saved from wasting time against this fake spam. I hope someone takes the right action to catch the frauds. Regards.

There are many things to understand. Point wise suggestion.

1. Why is the person so eager to send such a huge sum of money without any benefit ?
2. What source of income(Profit) do they have in forwarding such huge sum of money ?
3. Their intentions are very clear to fool people in parting out huge sum of money. This include arbitration charges for processing such a huge money (no such money) or processing charges for delivery of this money (insurance, safe delivery of money etc.) to the winner. Initially it may be just a promisory note or something. Then they may ask for legal charges for clearing such a huge sum of money. Think before U act, nobody will part money without being able to generate money. This shows the motive is purely to fool guliable person in parting his poor earned money. Hence, never reveal any details such as name, occupation, bank a/c., addresses etc. to any person or such organisation.

I today April 3, 2009 received notification that I had won 500, 000.00 pound sterling, and a new 500 series BMW . This for a March drawing and my email address was selected. Now I do own a BMW and first thought that the Service Dept., Parts Dept. etc ..etc... had maybe entered me randomly.But the catch was that I was to respond back to the (remittance.[protected]@hotmail.com) HOTMAIL.?..HOTMAIL..?...that killed it so I have not responded. Today, 20th of March 2010 just received the same message, saying that I won money and a car. I've a BMW, so I thought that maybe I won something but after reading all the comments, I think that it's a joke but I'll play the joke with them until payment that they will never get !
