Address: Chennai, Tamil Nadu

Hi

I visited Dr. Sangeetha Madhu for my 3 yr old daughter.... we went into her private clinic at 12 noon and came out at 5.30 evening. We saw her just for 15 mins and that too was a waste of time.... and she charged INR 1000/- with no receipt. We didnt even have lunch, including my 3 yr old kid. But the doctor along with her receptionist and two junior doctors ordered from Saravana Bhavan and had a relaxed lunch break of at least an hour!!!

She didnt do any testing simply talked to us smoothly and didnt tell us anything new that we already know and confused us more.

What is more annoying is that
(a ) she attends personal calls when she is with us (chitchats and makes jokes with friends and doesn't even try to make an effort to cut short the call) and also
(b) she and her assistant are discussing a very personal case of a teenage girl in front o[censored]s (about the girl's boyfriend, her sexual relationship, her strained relationship with her parents, her parents carelessness... my God)

I was truly astounded by her lack of professionalism and service.

Then she gave a report (after a week) which was just a summary of all the information we had given with nothing new / no conclusions.

On seeing the report, when we asked a few questions, she started yelling and finding fault with (blaming) us, saying that we were not right in doubting her (by asking her questions?!) and that we had not collected the report on time (what would happen to a report that was ready, if it rested with her for a few days is still a mystery to me. We collected the report after 10 days instead of 7 days)..... etc. etc.

Since we were already under a lot of pressure regarding our daughters health, we decided to let the matter drop, as the doctor didnt even recognise the crisis in the first place.

If you are considering her for a consult, please don't waste your time and money....

Dr Sangeetha Madhu, Psychologist, No 21/1,5th Cross St,CIT Colony, Mylapore, Chennai - 600004 — Excellent Psychologist

Dr Sangeetha Madhu is an excellent psychologist who has worked wonders with my son who has reffered to her by a leading psychiatrist. I will strongly recommend her to all
She can be found at
SISHU.IN
sruthi.S
What has the the professional having lunch with professional competence..
sheer character assassination here...
Hey please get a life
I am undergoing therapy with Dr. Sangeetha Madhu for sometime now. I have had some intense sessions with her. I find her to be very competent and very professional. I have had experiences with therapists before. In comparison, I can say she is perhaps the best out there in this field.
Also, keep in mind that there is no miracle cure in psychology. It takes several months or sometimes years for effects of therapy to show.
We have to work with therapists. The operative word is 'work'.
It is an absolute slander that she is discussing other patients in front of her clients. I never saw any evidence to this when I was meeting her. And by observing her I can say she can be trusted completely. I would vouch for her professionalism. She may be on the pricey side but I dont mind because she does provide value. She is compassionate, all involved, and her passion to help shows.
Its really sad to see a Mother (Divsarath) of a 3- year Old kid in need of therapy being accused of "character assasination" and "Slander" on this forum for voicing a genuine issue she faced while seeking a professional service. The objective of sites such as these are to bring up issues and while you may disagree with the post and provide details of your own experiences; its just not right to accuse another for airing his/ her view and add insult to injury.

I had just one brief interaction with Sangeetha at a Rotary meet and she came across as very professional. I was with my 6-year Old daughter and husband and it was a couple of years ago when we had just got back from the US. During the course of the conversation she mentioned she did a column in a popular daily and also was a guest in a couple of TV shows, etc. She then enquired with my daughter which school she was going to and to our utter shock, she came out with the names of atleast 3 kids from the same school who she said were being referred to her for counselling.

While "names-dropping" seems to be a harmless, accepted past-time that we all indulge in here in India; I would be hurt should my kid have a mental condition and my "trusted therapist" were using it as a point of reference. Having come from the US where Client Confidentiality is sacred, and having a kid of our own, my husband and me thought this was unwarranted and unprofessional. This however is our own personal view based on a single interaction in a social setting and hence we may/ may not be right in our assessment.

Divsarath: Wish your kid gets well soon. I am sure there are a couple of Self-Help forums for Parents of Kids with Special needs in India; whom you may want to connect with.
Dr. Sangeetha Madhu has been treating my daughter for the past 2 years and I would strongly recommend her.
She was referred to us by one of the top most neurologists in the city, and coincidentally three other specialist to who we had consulted too, strongly recommended and commended her work.
Incidently i did find out later that couple of our aquantainces had also consulted her and had only very high praises for her.
It is sad that someone like me has to 'sign up' in a forum like this to 'defend' a sincere and dedicated doctor.
I honestly think a good and busy doctor like her, who is the 'first choice' referral as a Clinical Psychologist to most o the top specialists wouldn't need to drop names of children to other children to impress. She has legions of thankful parents to do that. I would take this 'name dropping' accusation with a pinch of salt it deserves.
This is really unfair/misguiding post or complaint man! This is not fair post and none of your acquisition is not correct upto my knowledge, To be frank when I was advised to visit Dr.Sangeetha Madhu for my 10 yr old Son's Selective Mutism issue, first thing I did is, just google to know how is the results & feedback, I did saw your post and I was really worried, until I visited her. Nothing was true on your post! We are visiting her for past few months and I don't she extracts money 100% sure! She makes frank opinions which is really good than false hopes!! And I could see some definite changes for on my son after series of counseling sessions with them. I think she is very good! Please remove this unfair post.. I know being a father you got confused with standard things happening out there in medical industry, May be you people expected medication, injections, Scans and lots of graphs on medical equipments which she wouldn't have prescribed your kid, Actually speaking those medications are really not good for kids so understand she is doing right thing for your kid not the bad! I would advise you to forget all those ill thoughts about her and do check in to her clinic again and you will definitely get some better solutions!

Just having lunch or attending her calls doesn't mean they are bad and after-all they are human yar! Doctor not robot or machine they will also have some personal calls and they too need to have food for their living!!!

Hi, Remember the phrase "buyer beware". I try to keep that in mind when I buy any product or get any service.

And if Dr. Sangeeta Madhu is seeing this, I hope she works on her communication skills. She needs to make herself clear. I would have been more impressed had she been more professional in her interactions (she made me wait too long past my appt time). Also yes, if she didn't eat and take personal calls (happened to me too), it would make it much easier for the patient. While I think she may be able to handle minor issues, I would really hesitate to go to her for major psychological problems or illnesses.

Thanks

We were referred to Dr. Sangeetha by our Pediatrician. Our experience with her has been excellent. She and her whole team, put us at ease and spent a long time examining our son, doing the tests and finally explaining the diagnosis and treatment to us. We have subsequently met many people who have consulted her and all of them had praises for her.
I would not hesitate in recommending her.
As a person looking for help, you guys may say shes excellent or may be not. But, if she has name dropped or talks about a patient infront of others. I am going elsewhere however good that person may be.
I was suggested this doctor for my child. Should say had to wait for a long time with two young children. There was no sticking to appointments. She also made a comment which was very unprofessional. The toilet in the place was absolutely horrible and smelly, the space itself was cramped up. For the amount that is charged things could be better. Also, my son and myself were assessed and made to do IQ tests, but in none of the reports the actual IQ was mentioned. The results were very general "Superior IQ" and when I went with the same report to another doctor in another city it was of no help. Also, when I got back to her and messaged her asking for help there was absolutely no response whatsoever.
Just to add, she also misdiagnosed for both my son and myself. The same doctor who asked me to go to Sangeetha sent our reports to a doctor in a different city and then we were finally referred to Ummeed in Mumbai who did a proper diagnosis and sorted out our issues.
Thanks alot I believe in 2017 reviews .My son s hyperactive thought to get an appointment here .God I'm saved 😑I know it's very painful when we are stressed becoz of kids and still we are made to wait for long time .This might aggravate our stress more.
