[Resolved]  Eagle Tours and Travels — Physical Abuse & non-refund of cancellation amount

Hi Everybody,

I am sorry to hear about you Arnab, even I have been at the receiving end of this crook called "Nazeer" from Eagle Tours & Travels.

I had booked a 3 nights 4 days package for Munnar & Thekkady from 19th oct till 24 th oct 2010 from Eagle Tours & Travels (office located at Anjaneya Complex, Airport Road, Kodihalli, Bangalore – 560001, Phone No –[protected]. Initially the two people in office Nazeer (mob no – [protected]) and Akmal were very friendly and quoted a price of Rs. 26, 200 for the trip for 4 people. We were promised that our hotel stay in Munnar would be in “Westwoods Riverside Garden Resort” and in “S.N. International” in Thekkady and the journey from & to Bangalore would be in Volvo AC buses and we were asked to pay extra premium prices for the same which we duly paid. We were also promised that on the day of our journey, we just need to reach their office in Kodihalli, Bangalore and they would organize our conveyance to SRS Travels thru which they had booked our tickets from Bangalore to Munnar.

The nightmare began when I went to collect our hotel vouchers for Munnar & Thekkady on 17th Oct 2010. At that time, Nazeer just wrote the names of the hotels on the leaf pad from Eagle Tours & Travels and handed it to me saying that the reservation is confirmed. I did not cross checked with the hotel authorities before leaving Bangalore and trusted Nazeer & Eagle Tours for the hotel bookings. On the day of journey, I called up on Nazeer’s mobile for arranging conveyance to SRS Travels from their office and I was told in no uncertain terms that they are unable to arrange the conveyance and we need to take care of that on our own. This came as a surprise as Nazeer had repeatedly confirmed that we just need to come to their office and they will be taking care of conveyance from their office to SRS Travels located in Madiwala. Not knowing the bigger surprise in store for my family, I agreed and went to their office to get the contact details of travel guide in Munnar. I was asked to contact N.P. Mayavoo (Contact No – [protected]) in Munnar as he was supposed to be our travel guide.

There Akmal communicated that our bus is not Volvo AC and we need to pay Rs. 1000/ extra for the same. When I told him that we had already paid extra for Volvo AC buses, he said in no uncertain terms that the prices have increased and we must pay extra to avail tickets for Volvo AC buses. We declined to pay extra and agreed to travel by normal semi-sleeper buses to & fro thinking that there must have been some mis-communication on either side. At that time I did not realize the bigger fraud by the duo of Nazeer & Akmal.

I took an auto to reach SRS Travels in Madiwala. The bus journey to Munnar was quiet uncomfortable but the real mess started when we reached Munnar. There N.P. Mayavoo met and communicated that the hotel - “Westwoods Riverside Garden Resort” is not a nice hotel and had several problems which was in sharp contrast to the reviews of the hotel in different travel forums. He took us to several other cheap hotels and made every possible attempt to ensure that we checked in one of them. We had paid Rs 3100/- per night to stay in the above mentioned hotel and as we did not like any of the cheap hotels shown in Munnar, we asked N.P. Mayavoo to take us to Westwoods. After much persuasion they guy reluctantly took us to Westwoods and started negotiating with the Hotel manager on the price per day for the hotel. We were shocked to realize that there was no booking by Eagle Tours & Travels and our stay in Munnar was completely left on our luck even though we paid extra specifically to stay in 3 star hotels in Munnar & Thekkady. After much deliberation our travel guide negotiated for Rs 2600/- per night for our stay in Westwoods. I must say that the hotel is extremely good and delight for travelers stay in Munnar.

For our local conveyance, we were made to pay for 250 km per day at Rs 6.50 per km for 4 days of our trip. We were told that we can utilize all the Kms each day for sightseeing. We had inquired and made an exhaustive list of all the sight-seeing places in Munnar & Thekkady and when we started our sightseeing on 20th Oct, the travel guide N.P. Mayavoo refused to take us to any of the sight-seeing places whose distance from Munnar was more than 30 Km. We were able to utilize a maximum of 100 Km per day even after paying for 250 Km and more importantly missed out on seeing several places of interest in Munnar & Thekkady. We realized that we have been duped but we thought of enjoying our stay thinking that we should ignore some deviations.

This crossed all limitations when we reached Thekkady on 22nd Oct. The travel guide refused to take us to “S.N. International” and communicated that the per night room tariff in that particular hotel was Rs 1600. We were shocked to hear that as Nazeer had collected Rs 1800 per night for our stay in Thekkady. Somehow we managed to reach “S.N. International” and when we showed our vouchers given by Nazeer on Eagle Tours & Travels slip, the hotel manager communicated that there were no reservations made by our travel operator. I immediately called up Nazeer to get the clarification, but he started abusing me and was told that we should better stay in a hotel where the tariff is not more than Rs 800. The travel guide N.P. Mayavoo also created ugly scenes and with Nazeer’s confirmation took us to a cheap hotel and told us to spend our last day there only. It was getting dark and the repeated threats against my family forced me to oblige to the travel guide and we reluctantly agreed to stay in a hotel of his choice even after paying extra to Nazeer. Already duped throughout our trip, we requested the travel guide accompanying us to give us our bus tickets before couple of hours but he feigned ignorance for the same and we had to call up “Kallada Travels” and we ourselves only booked our return tickets from Thekkady to Bangalore.

On a whole, Eagle Tours & Travels:
1.Duped us in our hotel stay – they did not even booked for our accommodation and we were made to stay in a cheap hotel in Thekkady even though we paid extra to specifically stay in 3 star hotels
2.Duped us in sight-seeing – they collected money for per day sight-seeing of 250 Km but refused to take us to anywhere more than 30 Km from our place of stay in Munnar & Thekkady.
3.Duped us in bus conveyance – they took money for Volvo AC bus tickets but gave us 2X2 semi sleeper buses

Summing up, Nazeer & Akmal from Eagle tours & travels are big time cheats who specialize in duping people in their travel trips after extracting money from them. I sincerely request everybody to never ever do any travel arrangements with Eagle Tours & Travels.
