INDIA'S LARGEST and most compact legal information system - Legaltreasure.com - is to be launched by April end. Legaltreasure constitutes a highly authentic database of over 3, 300 Acts, 2.1 lakh reported judgments, rules, notifications and statutes, says Sohonet, chairman, S.G.P. Raj.

It will soon be available through `web packs' and a set of CD-ROM to serve as a comprehensive legal library for reference and research.

The project took over 50, 000 man-hours, spread over six years and over 800 data entry and editing professionals.

Covering a period from 1834 to 2002, the information system measures about 9000 MB of electronic data, and would replace 3, 200 volumes of printed materials weighing nearly one metric tonne.

The aim is to digitise the global legal database and offer the content to the legal fraternity, according to the company.

Sohonet is the only participant from India at the International Law Conference to be held in Melbourne, Australia between April 12 and 17.

Both volume as well as price-wise, the package will prove to be more economical than the conventional printed study material, vouchsafed the Senior Central Government Standing Counsel, Madanagopal Rao.

The results of this venture highlight the need for more digital publishers and NGOs to enter the arena of putting law content online, for the benefit of the average citizen with simple access to the Internet, in a country where the legal process often gets difficult and cumbersome, and legal literacy is low.

Raj is only targetted by other sources.Think it pratical is it possible by a single person to handle all the things what other directors where doing at that time.

I know the things gone wrong . But Raj is only targetted thats what i can say.
