Job Title: Legal Assistant
We are looking for a professional, detail-oriented individual who enjoys legal work, can provide effective attorney support and work directly with clients. We are a small firm, so candidates should be flexible and enjoy variety in their work. In addition, for the right candidate, this position offers the opportunity for growth with both office management responsibilities and a litigation support role (trial prep & courtroom presentations).
Responsibilities include:
Providing primary support for managing partner and associate to ensure that they are ready to make effective decisions and litigate/operate in the best environment
Maintaining well-organized office environment, including files, both physical and electronic, office supplies and other office management responsibilities
Coordination of scheduling, including handling conflicts, changes and alerting attorney to possible future conflicts for two attorneys.
Preparation of correspondence, transcribing of dictations, originating basic court filings, reports and other documents
Conducting client interviews and maintaining general contact with the client
Opening and distributing the mail
Providing reception for visitors to our office and those calling in by phone
Desired Skills & Experience
Associate or bachelor degree is required
2 years of experience working in law firms
Criminal casework experience preferred
Strong skills using office productivity software, such as MS Office and Adobe PDF forms
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage workflow to reach performance goals
Experience with Apple Mac and iPad is preferred (or the willingness to learn!)
