[Resolved]  mideast integrated steel ltd. — to know share value

Bhubaneswar: Mideast Integrated Steel Ltd (MISL), a venture of Mesco Steel Group, would invest Rs 10, 500 crore to ramp up the capacity its pig iron plant at Kalinganagar in Jajpur district. This was informed by the business Group’s chairman J K Singh here today.

Singh along with senior officials of the company called on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and discuss the expansion plans.

“We would expand the capacity of our facility to 3.5 million tonne per annum (mtpa) from 1.2 mtpa, ” Singh told reporters after meeting the CM.

The investment would be done in two phases even as the company has obtained environment clearance for the first phase of the expansion.

“We are going to complete the first phase expansion in five years, ” Singh said.

He, however, expressed concern over non-availability of mines for the plant.

“We have no mine expect Roida iron ore mines, ” Singh said.

Notably, country’s leading integrated steel maker JSW Steel on July 29 said the company is exploring possibility of setting up a steel plant in the State with an investment Rs 15, 000 crore.

“We have an investment plan of Rs 15, 000 crore for a steel project in Odisha. Our teams had identified 2-3 sites but Kendrapara seems to be the most suitable site as we plan the steel plant close to a port, ” JSW chairman and managing director (CMD) Sajjan Jindal had said in Bhubaneswar.
