[Resolved]  Muthathi Falls — Lots of Death Happening in Muthathi Falls

Hey I had been to that place yesterday with my friends and family... I saw a guy who died because of WhirlPools and River Currents.. its the worst place that i have even visited in that... They have been board saying don't drink and enter the water but people still do that.. i don't know why :( and you hardly get any mobile signals over there.. A hearty request to couples and friends and college friends. be very very very careful.. couples don't go in bikes its most danger place to girls.. I have heard that many girls have be raped and killed there... friends life is not only about enjoying... Please take of yourself and your loved ones.. they are hell lots of another beautiful places to visit... Take care :) :) :)

There is something fishy about this damn place Muthati. Only last sunday the 21st Feb 2010 we lost our dear friends. We were there the entire time next day while the search for bodies were on. God it was such a traumatic experience. The cops are so open in their callous attitude, such as alcohol to be provided to the personnel assigned to fish the bodies besides food and a huge money deal ... Besides the bereavement this became even greater horror. The search is just an eyewash eventually when the bodies float after 24hours is when a great frenzy is raised by these so called search party. 36hours of extreme anxiety is so draining besides the trauma of finding highly decomposed and half the body parts missing...

The persons assigned are experts no doubt, diving into whirlpool and all what we failed to understand was there was no organized search .. with cops arriving after 10am the next day and alternately one of the party not present. It was crystal clear that the more the findings are delayed the better the asking price is. Iam writing this with so much resentment and God forbid nobody experience this horror.

There has been several such incidents and people keep writing about such incidets, but no action taken till date...

We have lost a good friend today in the same place and we still don't get a answer why there is not restriction to this ...

I strongly believe that this place should be banned for peoples entry ...

Yes it is true, On 12th June'10 My Cousing along with his friends and families went to this Place. My cousin first went to find how deep is the river so that every body can play in the water and he started drowning, his friend went to save him he also drowned they both know swimming very well. My Cousing Emmanual is 26 years, Handsome young boy who is very loving and caring with clean habits. and Amose 17 years boy his mumy's pet very quite and obidient person we lost both but able to find only one body and we are still not able to fined Emmanual we pray to God that He will be alive. It is very difficalt for a parent to have Uncertain decesions we do not know what happen to him whether he is alive or dead our family is in deep greeve. We want Emmanual back. But as said above if people are like that. I request the Government to put rules and regulation so that public is not affected. If people are not able to understand ones feeling we can call them as canibols instead of life savers. MY HUMBLE ADVISE IS TO THE YOUNG BLOODS / YOUNGSTERS THAT IF YOU WANT TO VISIT THE WATER PLACES VISIT BUT TRY TO UNDERSTAND YOUR FAMILY AND THEIR LOVE FOR YOU BEFORE STEPPING INTO THE WATER. BEFORE SELECTING THE PICNIC SPOT TRY TO READ WHAT YOU CAN DO AND THE CAUTIONS GIVE i.e., THE GOOD AND THE BAD ABOUT THE PLACE. THINK YOUR FAMILIES ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR ENJOYMENT.

I lost my brother and a dear friend on the 26th of March, 2007. After this date, my Dad put in great efforts to inform students and youngsters to avoid the place and also spoke to officials about the risks and safety issues related to Muthathi. I had been there post the incident. The waters are beautiful and tempting, as also deceiving. There have been many more deaths following my brother's, and I grieve for them too .. more because I could not stop it from happening. Muthathi is rated as having the highest death toll at a tourist place in Karnataka. I think, this makes the point clear.
Government should take steps to declare Muthathi as a non-tourist place, and treat it as a natural reserve. Anybody entering the water should be fined heavily. This will reduce the risk. It is also important to include whirlpool signs with description in English, alongside the river. There are many students and IT professional from all over the country who come here. It is important for us to guide the youngsters and save their lives.

I lost my brother and his 2 friends on 07th may 2007. its a really insider job becoz the way they act while taking dead body and charges so much like a fisher man sell after fisingh from lake and sells. Government will never take any action, even police people are benefited with it. Its a dengerous place pls avoid going to such place becoz after 4 yrs we still miss him. Behen — People drowning in Muthathi

I too lost my dear brother on 24th of April 2011.Its the worst water place i can say.What is the government doing.How can we bangaloreans be proud of our city,when such incidents are happening and we still silent about it.What the heck are government for.Cant they do a simple task of putting signboards in such places .This would save a life of thousands,atleast life of the innocent peo who adhere to the rules.

This Place called Muthathi, is a picknic spot some 85 km from bangalore, it is where cauvery flows down to samgam.Thre are rapids filled with boulders, the river bed is not smooth and sandy but very rough and jagged rocks.There are lots of crocodiles in this region as it is being relocated from the crocodile park in bannarghatta. There is also this big fish called mahseer. The is also very strong undercurrents created by the under water rock gullies and crevaces. I am comming to this place for as long as thirty years. The river has shrunk in size, qty of water is also low, not like what i have seen this place before. This place is a place where one enjoys the scene of the water flowing, see the river dancing and enjoy the beauty of the nature and the surrounding areas rather than getting into the water. water is also polluted. This particular picknic spot has seen many death from long time. 2 - 3 persons drown regularly every week at this spot. More over the govt apathy towards putting sign boards is also contributing more to these drowning deaths. I ask people to go to thease places and enjoy the beauty of his great creations and not get into danger zone. ENJOY RESPONSIBLY.

Really, its a bad place But nature was awesome and very beautiful i love that place and nature but still i don't like that river
its a dangerous river ever seen,

On that day river flowing is very low that's y i decided to swim, after 15 minutes river flowing is increasing i and my team decided to quit the swim

To all my friends my suggestion is:-

Please don't swim in that river, feel that nature but don't try to swim because don't know after swiming alive or death.

pls suggest for night out. is it safe for camping ?

Last week 3 people from the same family died, even when the water is too low.. There is suspicion that it is jewellery looters who target and pull people into water without their knowledge.

I kindly request everyone not to visit this place at all, just to see it’s good but u never what might happen wen u get into the water the beauty of the water itself will attract u guys to take your life, please think about your family members once don’t listen to your friends and just go blindly, my kindly request plz help me my brother got drowned yesterday around 2pm in that river and the rescue people are more concerned on money but not on a life, they are charging way too high to get my brother out, plz guys pray for my brother nothing should have happened to him..😭😭
