Dream Home Turns Out To Be a Nightmare
Thanks to illegal practices, regional division and poor management

I bought a flat at Park Street Wakad Pune, a project from Pride-Purple group (http://www.pridepurplegroup.com)
which I booked in April 2007 but got the possession after a long wait in May 2010.

The very next day of my possession, I was surprised that the wooden flooring of my bedroom got off from the floor. Though it was fixed later by the builder, I was skeptical whether the builder has constructed the flat as per the quality standards initially promised with me and other members of the society. My doubts were very well answered as a series of problems followed though; be it water seepage problems, flooring tears, lift/elevator related and so on, there were a lot of issues I had to take care of every month with my time and money which I never expected for a brand new construction.

Moreover, the security guard of the building who would guard my flat was caught red-handed stealing money from my place, so I immediately complained the customer care department of Park Street regarding this issue. This year I had to move in Mumbai due to my job so I handed the keys over to my cousin who was already staying with me and working in Pune. To add to my worries, the same security guard whom I caught stealing money started harassing my cousin. I was shocked that no action was taken against him and he was still working on the same position. When my cousin complained about this again, some so-called Society representative people showed up late in the night in my flat and instead started interrogating my cousin. He was asked to vacate the flat on the grounds that he is a bachelor! This makes me wonder that being a bachelor I am also not eligible to stay there! Even though my cousin explained that he is the relative of the owner of the flat, the society members got violent and started using abusive language against him.

According to the law, a citizen of India can rent/own any legitimate property.

When I called up one of the so-called society representative (Mr. Venu Gopal), he started abusing me as well saying, “All North Indians don’t know how to live in the society! They deserve to be thrown out!
Now you will come to know what South Indians can do!” and advised me "It's better if you dispose of the flat ASAP". I also have the copies of the threatening mail received from Mr. Venu Gopal. Similar incidents happened in other buildings where North Indian girls were staying as tenants and were compelled to vacate the flat on similar grounds. I never received a single mail/communication regarding the formation of society representatives but few old influential people nominated themselves for the whole society without any elections and now harassing people like me for their own benefits/whims.

Afterwards, I received a series of phone calls from one of the so-called society representative threatening to get me arrested if I don’t get my flat vacated from my cousin. Things got worse when some real estate agents called me up regarding selling the flat. They threatened me that my flat will get sealed by police so it’s better if I sell this flat and get out from all this. They offered me a price much less than my buying cost.

I tried to contact the customer care department of our respective builder (Mr. Arvind Jain & Mr. Shravan
Agarwal, Joint MD, (Pride Purple Group)) regarding this issue but no one seems to care about the customer whom they have eventually sold the flat.
