I purchased Mangalsutra of 35 gm in 2009 for wedding. I observe that it is rapidly losing its shine & structure like other ornaments I purchased from R. After 3 yrs I & my wife decided to replace old one with new. When I ask RL representative to buy back old one with new, they politely push me to buy new from them, but we refuse. Then the policies they told us are like “Shocking” & “Looting”
1. First they told 2 gm loss for 35 gm
2. There were 3 options we had
a. purchasing of RL’s New Mangalsutra
b. purchasing for Pure Gold (as per experience this option is beneficial to customer)
c. take cash equivalent to old Mangalsutra
3. Less VAT would be applicable option “a”
4. Rs 45/gm labor chares per gm for option “b” (what labor require to form pure gold)
5. In case of cash return Rs. 75 /gm would be charged (why? Totally illogical answers form R)
6. No VAT return in any case as I’m selling old gold
7. Customer Service is degrading as you select option “a” to “b” to “c”
8. RL employees put pressure on us for selecting option “a”
Once I decided to go for option “b”, then PL employee told to clean Mangalsutra by their labor and we lost another 1.15 gm in gold (black beads are already removed). Even RL explanation was very arrogant on this loss. When I argued with RL representative with their hidden policies, they were challenging quality of gold wore by my wife and making personal obligation with us.
It was disgusting experience. I & my wife decided to leave showroom. I request RL to make policy publicly clear with billboards in showrooms, train employee and stop charging too much by bargaining with pure gold.
