[Resolved]  Royal Bank Of Scotland (Formerly ABN AMRO Bank) — False Credit Card Outstanding- Claim after 5 years of non action

Address: Thane, Maharashtra

Dear Sir/Madam,
Please help me with the below situation. My name is Sathyan Nair and resident of Kalyan in Maharashtra.

I received a shocking call from the Royal Bank of Scotland on 14th June (formerly ABN Amro Bank) for an outstanding Credit Card amount of around 6000 Rs.(aprx.) which they claim is due since 2005. I was also made aware that because of this my name is in CIBIL which is outrageous. The agent called me again today (17th June) and asked me to atleast pay the principal amount of 4000 Rs (apprx).
(sorry for not mentioning the correct amount As didnt hear it completely as it is not true).

The said card was used by me for a very brief period and very rarely (guess it was less than a year) . I had a debate about the Insurance amount (Insurance by ICICI Lombard) being charged which I had never requested. Also I had difficulties in making the payment which was only possible in 2 centers across Mumbai. I had given this reason also for the closure. After telephonic discussions with the call center agent of the Bank in Delhi, I had cleared all payments on the card and subsequently closed it. The destroyed card was posted back to Delhi.

As I had cleared all payments and had no further communication from the Bank (I can guarantee no postage or other communication received for last 5 years), I had trashed away the records. And they shouldn't be expecting anyone to keep unwanted records for so long. Now I don't even remember the Card no. and the exact period o[censored]sage. I had received no Bills or Letters or e-mails for the claimed outstanding amount. And No person ever had visited my house to claim this.

Though my telephone nos have changed my email Id and billing address has been the same. I see no reason why they couldn't have reached me if I was not available on phone.

This sudden call after such a long period and claiming outstanding amount is not at all acceptable and not professional on the Banks part. The Bank has failed to update the records and causing undue agony to me by putting my name in the CIBIL.

I have send a mail to their Customer Card on 16th June, But I also want them to compensate me for the problem I had because of my name appearing in CIBIL due to which I was not able to secure personal loans for my Urgent Needs and had to take loans at higher interests. And so requesting your help.

Please Let me know how to proceed with a proper complaint. I have not asked the credit card no. from the Bank as I saw no reason why I should be harassed for their hibernation through this years. I only believe the Bank records were not updated when the payment was made.

Please help me as my name is in the defaulters list in CIBIL for no reason.

Regards,
Sathyan Nair

Royal bank of scotland/ ABN AMRO bank — They have debited amount of 4000 against my credit card without asking me

I have a credit card which was blocked by the bank because i was not able to give 2000 rupees to them. They have taken this from my bank account without asking me.I know this can be in their papers somewhere in the corner but when there executive came to fill the form they told me its free and if something happens, i can easily revert back.
Now they have not asked me about taking money from the account, and i want that everyone should know about it. Its like they can do everything without asking consumer.
Please read each word carefully or they can bully you.
My name- Vinod Singh
Credit card ---- XXXXXXXXXXXX0930
ABN Amro Bank is probably the worst Bank, I have come across. They are number one in cheating. You need to be very careful in dealing with them.

In my case they kept one cheque (submitted by mistake undated) for more than one year & was returned ultimately, when they did not find any other solution, since I had not paid Rs 8, 000/- approximately.

They have spoiled my credit rating with Credit Bureau. Now I have demanded, after I got the cheque back, to correct my credit rating, send me letter confirming that it was Bank's fault, only then I shall make payment.

The matter was referred to Nodal Officer Credit Cards, ABN Amro Bank by Speed post on 11th March, 2010with copiues of all the mails sent to AAB, followed by a reminder last week, but no response from their end.
