Tejas Inverters — Defective Inverters

I have a complaint against Tejas Inverters. Before detailing the complaint, hereunder are the details of the purchase made by me:

Payment Mode: Cheques - Two Cheques drawn on ICICI Bank, Nungambakkam Branch
Details of Cheques: Chq. No: 376880 dt. April 19, 2009 for Rs. 3, 000/- Chq. No: 376883 dt. April 29, 2009 for Rs. 91, 600/- (Rs. 1000/- was for installation)
Warranty Period: 1 year (for both Inverter and Batteries)

Complaint:

On the second day after installation, when the power went, it was found to our horror that the back up was not even coming for an hour and that too for a load which was very less as compared to the prescribed load (or maximum load possible for a 1.5 KVA inverter). We called up the salesman (Mr. Rajan) as the number given in the warranty card for service was not being responded to.

We had to call him about 25 times before he sent a person. That person checked and stated that there was a problem with the batteries. They said they will change it. But it was not done for a week. We were continuously calling the salesman (he was not willing to give any other contact number) and again today one more person came and said the same thing. When we asked to be put on to somebody senior he refused saying that he does not have numbers of anybody - this is important that the salesman and the serviceman both have stated that they do not have the contact numbers of anybody. The serviceman said he will 'see' what can be done and just walked away.

We visited their office personally and there was a lone receptionist who refused to give any numbers and said that we should leave our number and go and as and when 'anybody comes' she will ask them to call

In the absence of any contacts and no one to redress this issue we fear that we have been duped / cheated into buying sub-standard products.

We are asking for the following compensation:
Full replacement of all units (inverters and batteries)
Testing of load and capacity by a third party (to be paid by Universal)
Monetary Compensation for this period when the products were not working (whatever way there is to calculate that damage)
MOST IMPORTANT: They should be made to carry a prominent message in all their communications (like for example they participate a lot in exhibitions to sell the products) which states that their products cannot be depended on and that consumers should fully test the products before making any payments.

MY NEIGHBOR SWITCHED OFF THE MAIN .
THE MOST DANGEROUS THING IS HOW COME THE INVERTER DID NOT TRIP AND WAS WORKING AND SMOKING - HATS UP TO THE GREAT TEJAS

me too had bad experience with tejas.very poor service.nobody comes on telephone to answer.
me throwing off and replacing with some other brand
Very bad serive from Tejas invertor. I bought one from the same Rajan and the batteries were out after 1 year. Had to buy new batteries.
When in bought Amaron batteris with 3 years warrenty for much cheapier price then the one offered by Teja's with 1 year warrenty, they said that there invertor will not support batteris from other companies.
Finally i have to pay more than 2K for changing the main board to support Amaron battrery.
They are junk.
I am also facing issues with Tejas service. They took away our inverter for servicing 2 weeks ago. Everytime I call up they say they will deliver in two days but nothing happens then. Today when I called up they simply took the call but did not speak! I can't believe this...
It was really a bad decision to buy Tejas
tejas is the worst inverter that never works ...the people in who work there have NO knowledge of the product...the response is pathetic...i am an unfortunate victim of there poor product...PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANY PRODUCT OF TEJAS INVERTORS ...YES, THE ONE BEHIND SARAVANA BHAVAN IN ANNA NAGAR...;
I bought the Tejas inverter about 6 months back with the same Rajan and faced problem with it about 3 weeks back. The inverter stopped working suddenly. I called their service center at Annanagar and there was no response. I called that sales guy (Rajan) and informed about the problem. He said he will send a person to service it. Since no one turned up, I called this guy to check. He said he will give the office number and he wanted me to check with them. The service center lady responded once to my call and said that a person will be sent the next day. As expected no one turned up. Then I called up Rajan and was trying to get his superiors number, he deliberately cut my calls. when I messaged him, he replied back saying contact office. So for last 3 weeks, there is no update even after I mentioned that there are kids at my home and we are finding it difficult to cope without the inverter. I tried calling from a new number today. He picked the call and he again said he will send a person tomm. When I got frustrated and was trying to find some superiors number form the net, I ended up here. Had I seen this earlier, I would not have bought the inverter. So, if anyone reached this page while trying to find the review about TEJAS INVERTER, PLS DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT. It is waste of money and time. The service is so pathetic that you will get frustrated and your other works will be affected.
I had given my inverter for repairs to Tejas at Anna Nagar . The battery was not getting charged. The lone lady sitting at the office took my inverter and said she would send it for repairs. After continous follow ups she finally gave it back after 13 days. She charged me Rs 2800 saying that the cards were replaced. There was no guarantee or acknowledgement. The inverter is not working and the same problem is persisting. The same lady has been promising me that she would seend the person to check up. Even after 15 days of follow ups nothing has been done. She does not give any other number and keeps on promising that it would be repaired. L.Viswanathan
