Thane Auto — Meter not showing correct reading

I travel dailt from Waghbil Naka to Voltas at Pokhran Road. The normal meter reading is 33 by most Autos. Today I traveled with an Auto numbered BC5404. The meter reading was 40. I complained Auto Driver and he immediately confessed that his meter is faster than it should normally be. I paid him what I would normally pay in case of correct meter reading, but I am sure the Auto driver is regularly overcharging other passangers.

By the way, all meters of thane are doctored meters, and this is done, i believe, in full support of the RTO. Since whenver a dispute occurs and if an RTO official is nearby, the RTO official says that " Saheb, Kashaala bantho, dhon - char rupaye kamee deeon jhaa"

By the way waht i know of is
for meter reading 1, the distance to be covered is 1.8 Km, while almost all auto's get 1.1 on their meter by the time they cross 1 Km or even less.

I daily traval from Thana station to Pokharan Road @ around 9 pm every day yesturday on 13th May 2009 I was in long Queue for 20 minites. My husband was joining me @ same time but unfortuantely he came 5 minites late & i was in a side of the Queue . When he came we sit in the auto in front of the trafic police & two volinteers Auto driver thought that I was not in a queue & coming in between he told us got down from his auto & even after telling 3 to 4 times by the volinteers and the trafic police and other passengers also he was not ready to take us in his auto & he used all abuse & insulting language for us. Auto Number is "MH 04 AR 4650" I srongly recomend that the license of such drivvers should get cancalled because other wise it will be very difficult for ladis to traval in city like Thane.
We all passengers are constantely suffering by the injustice like not ready for travel to perticular place, Meter frauds, asking for extra money & now we have to listen to such comments also. Is any body is alive to handle this auto driver?

Every one in thane is being lotted by Auto Drivers. nearly 90% Autos are having faulty meters. They are not ashmed of this. They must be having a dream to buy a flat in mumbai suburban area. Thats a reason they use these tricks.

Most of the autos in Thane have faulty meters. I challenge anyone to hire an auto into Thane from the Mulund LBS Road check naka. These autos are parked on the Mulund side of the check naka and call for their customers. Most of these auto drivers lead their passengers through a longer route to their destinations and over charge. Why can't something be done to stop this menace?

The same thing is done to me in thane w from castle mill circle to koram mall the meter showed me 17 rs where the auto man charged me 23 rs.if we talk they start arguing in a very bad manner.where should we complaint these kind of autowalas ?

traffic cops dont act, you know why most of the rickshaws belongs to there breed, which they hire to poor villagers from uttar pradesh bihar etc.
how they will get handsome rental when the drivers do not earn handsomely.
and every body knows very well how the cops earn(rishwat ki kamai) the money to buy the rickshaws.

if rto really wanna do some thing positive in this regard they have to introduce electronic meters through out mumbai & thane.

Today I took auto from Teenhath naka to Vasant Vihar, everyday Auto charges me 45-50 Rs. Today the auto driver take long route by pkharan road -1 to vasant vihar and when I ask him about this then he told he has some work on the way and you pay the regular one. But when I get down he ask for 70 Rs and when I refused to give he created a scene on the road, and finally he too 60 Rs. from me... Also when I ask him for driver tag, he told that he doesn't have it. Also I think he don't possess driving license.

today i boarded an auto(MHOF - V- 2058 with my 2 kids around 10 : 32, before boardng he agreed to take us to our destiny i.e vasant vihar...but after 5 mts he just stopped the rick on 1 side of the road n told us to get down..when i refused he started abusing ...i decided to remain seated..then to my surprise ..he just got down from the rick n told me to remain sitted the entire night in the rick..i was totally helpless as it was raining n pretty late..i waited for him to return for good 15 minutes ..when he didnt i was left with no option but to leave the rick..i clicked the pick of the rick where my children where seated alone n the empty drivers seat...

I had put complain to traffic police site also... and they are already taking money (bribe) from auto people. So no use of that also.

Same Incident happened with me today dt 15 July 2011 the Rickshaw number was MH-04-AR-6525 and on top of that he asked me to come to the police station on the argument. I had to pay 50/- instead of 30/- as all my office staff was watching me arguing for 20/- bucks. This fell credited the chap.
