The Oberoi - hotels — oberoi hotels - blocking of credit card 300% in excess of the rent amount in advance not released after even the room rent is paid

i have stayed in Oberoi hotel, checked in on 22nd May 2008 at 5 PM and checked out on 23rd May 10.15 AM.

While i have checked in you guys blocked an amount of Rs.40, 000/- in my credit card .

While checkout of the hotel as stated above, the hotlier have duly debited my credit card account for the normal tariff rent of Rs.17, 392/- and promised me that the amount blocked my credit earlier as advance will be released within 23rd May 2008.

But, However, today being 5th June 2008, the advance amount blocked (Rs.40, 000/-)in my credit card is not yet released.

When i have to use the card yesterday for making payment to other merchent, the bank has rejected the request stating that insufficient balance since amount is blocked to extent of Rs.40000/-.


Even i spoken to a cashier in hotel yesterday - but yet no resolution is taken place. is this a punshiment they have given for customer.
