Dear Sir,
This is to bring to your notice that I am living in sector 13 of Karnal as a tenant since last 1.5 years. Every month the bills served to me for Elcetricity were of Rs 700- 850/- (Average). With lowest being 110 units and maximum being 423 units.
Now in the month of march i was served (Bill No: 05514 for A/C No: LS[protected]. This bill had shown a usage of 1155 Units hence an amount of Rs 5160/-.
Now on enquiring with the authorities for this sudden surge in usage (that too when the geaser and heater usage was not there for the said period). We were informed by the JE of the Sub Station that the meter is faulty and that the line must have been reporting reading by his wits. ie. by his guess work.
He also recommended a change of the meter. We submitted his recommendation for change of meter to concerned office on[protected]. Since then nothing was done on the same till yeasterday. Even after regorous followup with authorities by me.
Later yeasterday the same JE visited the site and confirmed that he had checked the wrong meter earlier and that our meter was alright. Then when we had our load checked which constitutes of 2 Ceiling Fans, 1 Fridge - 180Ltrs. Then he said that it was impossible for this kind o[censored]sage in one month. Then on further query he said that most probably the line was reporting the readings by guess for past 1-2 years. So every time the bill was generated for a random amout which was lesser than the actual amount. In march he reported the actual reading which resulted in this surge.
Now my comaplint is this that of this is the case then How will I come to know of any aount which was due on earlier tenants of the house. Also why should I bear the burden for the fault of the line man.
Now as confirmed by the department the matter is closed for my action i.e silent payment of the bill.
