Dynamic Super Speciality Hospital — Medical negligence

Subject: Complaint Regarding Medical Negligence and Deficient Post-Operative Care
Respected Sir/Madam,
Namaskar.
I, khushbu Bhavsar, am writing this complaint to formally bring to your notice a serious case of medical negligence in the treatment of my, Mrs. Khushbu Bhavsar, by Dr. Ankur Patel and co-doctor Dr. Mayank Jain at Dynamic Super Speciality Hospital, Ahmedabad.
My wife underwent a laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal surgery) on 25/12/2025 at the above-mentioned hospital and was discharged on 26/12/2025.
Immediately after discharge, she continuously suffered from severe pain in the epigastric and umbilical port sites. We repeatedly informed the treating doctors, particularly Dr. Mayank Jain, through telephonic conversations regarding her persistent pain and discomfort. However, without proper physical examination or consultation, we were repeatedly assured that such pain was normal after surgery.
Around 14–15 days later, during stitch removal (approximately on 07/01/2026), we again reported persistent pain along with visible redness and swelling at both port sites. Despite these clear symptoms of infection, no proper diagnostic investigation or treatment was initiated, and we were once again advised that the wounds would heal gradually over time.
As per the doctor’s advice that recovery would take approximately 15 days, my wife resumed work in Mumbai on 16/01/2026. However, on 17/01/2026, pus discharge started from both wound sites. Upon sharing photographs with the doctor, she was prescribed heavy antibiotics including Linid 600 and Claribid 500 twice daily, along with Naxpro RD 40 once daily.
Despite prolonged medication, her condition did not improve. On 24/01/2026 and again on 27/01/2026, we revisited the treating doctor due to worsening symptoms. Even then, no ultrasound sonography or proper diagnostic investigation was conducted. Instead, both port sites were reopened under local anesthesia for cleaning and dressing, while the same antibiotics were continued for approximately 2 months.
The treatment and dressing continued for nearly two months. During this prolonged course of antibiotics, my wife suffered severe side effects including nausea, vomiting, anemia, excessive hair loss, weakness, fatigue, poor appetite, and extreme physical discomfort. These concerns were repeatedly communicated to the doctors; however, no significant changes were made to the treatment plan, and the potential adverse effects of prolonged antibiotic usage had not been properly explained beforehand.
Subsequently, my wife developed dark brown discoloration on her tongue, following which blood tests were advised. The reports revealed that her hemoglobin level had dropped drastically from 10.8 g/dL to 7.7 g/dL. Due to this, she suffered severe weakness, breathing difficulties, and significant mental trauma. Her condition deteriorated to such an extent that she became emotionally distressed and expressed suicidal thoughts, requiring constant emotional and family support.
After nearly two months, the doctors stopped the medication and dressing, stating that the wounds had healed completely. However, within a few days, pus discharge reappeared from one port site, and later from the second site as well, causing renewed physical pain and severe mental distress.
At that stage, we sought a second medical opinion from another doctor. After evaluation an ultrasound sonography was then conducted, which revealed a sinus tract at the infected port site, confirming a port site infection. We were further informed that such infections are commonly associated with contaminated surgical instruments or improper sterilization practices during surgery.
My wife was also diagnosed with a Non-Tuberculous Mycobacterial (NTM) infection, and the AFB culture report is still awaited.
We were additionally informed that multiple other patients who underwent surgeries around the same period had reportedly developed similar infections, raising serious concerns regarding hospital hygiene, sterilization standards, and overall surgical practices at the hospital.
Due to delayed diagnosis, improper management, and prolonged ineffective treatment, my wife ultimately had to undergo another surgical procedure for sinus tract removal at a different hospital. During this surgery, the infection had spread extensively, and the belly button (navel) had to be surgically removed to control and remove the infected tissue.
Since 25/12/2025, for nearly five months and continuing till date, my wife has suffered immense physical pain, emotional trauma, mental stress, and financial hardship. She is employed in an IT company and was compelled to take nearly 5 months of leave without pay, resulting in a substantial financial loss, considering her monthly salary of approximately ₹1.33 lakh. We have also incurred significant additional medical expenses for corrective treatment, investigations, surgery, medications, and follow-up care.
In view of the above facts and circumstances, I humbly request the Gujarat Medical Council to:
Conduct a thorough investigation into the medical negligence, delayed diagnosis, deficient surgery and post-operative care.
Take appropriate disciplinary and legal action against the responsible doctors and hospital authorities as per applicable medical ethics and legal provisions.
Direct the concerned parties to provide fair compensation for the physical suffering, mental trauma, financial losses, loss of employment income, and additional medical expenses suffered by my wife and our family.
I am enclosing all relevant medical records, prescriptions, laboratory reports, sonography reports, photographs, bills, and related documents for your kind reference and necessary action.
I sincerely request your prompt intervention and justice in this matter.
Thanking you.
Yours faithfully,

khushbu Bhavsar.
