GRIEVANCE SUBJECT
Violation of section194A of the Income Tax Act.
TDS not applicable. Still deducted by illegal clubbing 2 years' interest together.

Our grievance stands as follows-
1 Refer your call telling us that you have clubbed together interest of last financial year and the current financial year, making the interest exceed ₹ 5, 000 liable for TDS.
2. A totally illegal deduction at your end.
3. Make a note, this FD was for 3 years and no TDS had been ever deducted for the first two years.
4. So there is no question for any TDS for the third year too.
5. Income tax rule does not allow you to club interest for 2 years and then apply TDS that's what you have done exactly making us to take up the matter to consumer court as per the consumer protection act 1986 making Godrej liable not only to refund back illegal TDS deduction but also heavy penalty and compensation for harassment and trauma caused by you for such illegal deduction.
