..“Reality Check at CGHS dispensary in Lutyen’s Delhi”.

My experience at CGHS Wellness Centre, North Avenue, Delhi, left me frustrated and disillusioned. Two aides of a Member of Parliament ( LS)insisted on issuing several medicines including anti-biotic tablets (60 Nos) on the basis of a simple letter ‘purportedly’ signed by an MP on his official letterhead. This was unethical and illegal.
The CMO expressed her inability in the absence of a prescription from an authorized medical doctor. The aide displayed unwarranted aggression and used unparliamentarily language against the doctor, who kept her cool.
On my intervention, one of the aides claiming kinship with MP shouted at me saying: “ Sahib Congress key MP hain, aap dhauns mat dijiye”.
So much for the Congress's arrogance. I warned him he had no business misbehaving with a government doctor, who was merely following the rules. MP's name is Dr Vinay Kumar Pandey,MP (LS) from UP.
I wonder why does the GOI not provide protection to doctors against such goons? The CGHS must follow up with LS and RS Secretariats asking MPs to get prescriptions from government specialists instead of misusing their letterheads, which are liable to be misused without MPs’ knowledge.
I would request the union health ministry to take up the matter with Lok Sabha sectts appropriately including getting the authenticity of MP's letter verified by forensic experts. The MPs may be advised not prescribe medicines themselves on their letter heads. This is punishable under the Law.
