Greater Chennai Corporation — Abnormal hike in Property tax

Greater Chennai Corporation has been despatching Notice 1 to the property owners in the metro regarding the General Revision of Tax-2022 .These notices are dated earlier as usual by more than a month. The Property owners who object to the increase are asked to write to the concerned Regional Dy.Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation within 15 days of receipt of the Notice OR else will be assumed that the surge in Tax with effect from First Half 2022-23 is accepted .While browsing the web, the details about the concerned Regional Dy.Commissioner are not found.Only phone numbers of some officials like Revenue Officer are given which in no way be helpful.Property owners have to write to the concerned official conveying their disapproval and displeasure over the rise. So, email IDs of the concerned official are necessary and the Corporation of Chennai should provide the needed email ids. Moreover, the officials should consider the requests of the Property Owners, genuinely. They should not simply ignore the letters received from them.Within 2 years, the chennai corporation has increased thrice the tax, that too from 01.01.2020 when it was not the DMK that ruled the state. The present hike ranging from 50%-150% is unjustified and the Govt.should rollback the increase, immediately. All Property owners should be notified duly, in this regard.
