Hotel Pavilions Vasai West — Complaint against Pavilions Hotel, Vasai, for discriminatory denial of seating in the family section

I wish to file a complaint against Pavilions Hotel, Vasai, for subjecting me and my companions to unfair, discriminatory, and humiliating treatment.

On visiting the hotel, three adult male customers, including myself, requested seating in the family section. However, the hotel staff refused to allow us to sit there solely because we were men. We were informed that the family section was only for women or for groups that included women.

The staff failed to produce any written policy, legal provision, government regulation, or displayed notice supporting such a restriction. We respectfully asked for the reason behind the refusal, but no satisfactory explanation or legal basis was provided.

This conduct amounts to unfair trade practice and discriminatory treatment of paying customers. A “family section” cannot arbitrarily exclude male customers unless there is a valid legal requirement or a clearly disclosed policy that complies with applicable law. Denying service or seating based solely on gender causes embarrassment, mental harassment, and violates the principles of fair consumer service.

I therefore request the Hon’ble Commission to:

1. Direct the hotel to explain the legal basis for restricting the family section only to women or mixed groups.
2. Declare such discriminatory treatment as an unfair trade practice if no lawful basis exists.
3. Direct the hotel to discontinue such discriminatory practices against customers.
4. Award litigation costs and pass any other order deemed fit in the interest of justice.

I request the Hon’ble Commission to take appropriate action against the hotel to ensure that consumers are treated fairly and without discrimination.
