Fraudsters Targeting Innocent School Children
This whole setup is that of fraud and scam. Let me explain how they work:
They will approach you or your child with a nicely crafted whatsapp message. See Exhibit 1 & 2
The scam is to make you believe that they will be holding a conference in a local school and it is an excellent, not to be missed, once in a lifetime opportunity.
The amount to be paid is ₹2000 for this conference
Once you make the payment, see exhibit 3, you will not hear from them
After a couple of weeks, you will be informed that the event has been postponed and will be held soon
After that, months will go by without any intimation from them and everytime you follow up, the same response - will be held soon.
Then they will ask you to participate in an online conference, when the original premise was for a physical one in a school. See exhibit 4 & 5
After you are fed up and request a refund of your money, you will be offered the opportunity to attend another conference in another city (not where you are located) via another nicely crafted whatsapp message. See exhibit 6
When you decline and ask for your refund, you will be assured that it will be processed soon. See exhibit 7
No matter how much you wait and how much you request, these scammers are not going to refund your money. See exhibit 8
Do not fall for these shameless people. Protect yourself and your child from them. As for me, I have raised this with the police and an FIR has been lodged, see exhibit 9, and will be following this up till closure. Will make sure they are not able to get away with this. I paid them on 7th September 2024 and till date, 4th April 2025, there has been no conference and no return of my money. That's 7 Months and counting !!!
