Jagriti Yatra — Refund of fees paid for Yatra 2013

I have paid my fees worth Rs 46, 500 on Dec 12th, 2013 to be a part of Jagriti Yatra 2014. They accepted the fees even after the last date. Later, on December 18th, 2013 when I had an academic urgency, I called them to confirm if they could return my fees in case I cancelled my candidature. Once they confirmed that they can return Rs 42, 000, I sent a mail to them to cancel my candidature for the Yatra and return my fees for which they replied that they would do so once they are back from Yatra 2013 and asked me my account details in the same mail. It has been almost two months since they are back from the Yatra and till the end of January, they told me that my fees shall be transferred next week whenever I called them. They have even stopped responding to my calls for a period later. Now they say that the amount cannot be refunded because of some refund policy of not accepting cancellations after 10th December 2013 for refund. Firstly, they accepted my fees after December 10th and secondly, none of their staff had the knowledge of communicating this to me when I cancelled the Yatra. I wonder how an NGO that is working to awake the conscious of people can function earnestly if the NGO itself as an organisation does not have a conscious of their own. I have lost patience and respect for Jagriti as an organisation.
