Respected sir,
I am writing this letter to bring to your kind notice about the unjustified punishment and harassment of student in lourdes high school, kalyan west, thane district, maharashtra that happening to my daughter – mary benedict studying in vi c standard for the past few months. As parents, several times the we visited the school and conveyed this personally and writing to the principal reverend fr. Joshua d’souza but the school management has not taken any action or warned the class teacher mrs. Jacqueline. We have proved the child has been harassed and also unjustified punishments bestowed by her class teacher mrs. Jacqueline, below are the gist:
1. Mary has undergone a series of illness including dengue and infections etc. Due to this, during this period she was absent for almost two months.
2. The school authorities including her class teacher mrs. Jacqueline kept updated about mary’s illness with sufficient medical reports and certificates. Continued to this, the diwali vacations started and mary resumed her school after the vacation.
3. On her return from school that day, she was withdrawn and kept herself the whole day and did not speak anything to us.
4. Next day onwards she hesitated to go to the school and this continued for a couple of days and this was when we realised something was seriously going on. Upon repeated fact-finding, mary shared to her mother many incidents which was really a shock to us.
A. Against the normal seating arrangements in the class room, class teacher mrs. Jacqueline forced mary to sit between two male students. This incident was finally brock down the girl child and she refused to go to school anymore. Knowing this, her mother immediately rushed to school and conveyed this to the principal.
B. Class teacher mrs. Jacqueline several times asked mary to sit separately in the class room.
C. Some time at the entrance of the class room in a separate bench.
5. All these unjustified punishments and other mentally ill-treating forced us to complaint in writing to the principal and submitted to him. We have also sent a copy of the same by registered post to his office which had been delivered on 28th november 2017, the letter remains unanswered. We have also sent a complaint to the archdiocesan board of education, mumbai regarding the same. The copy of the letters attached herewith for your ready reference.
6. Since all these incidents made mary very sad and she was not ready to go to school, she was frightened to listen the name of the class teacher mrs. Jacqueline.
7. We have somehow convinced mary and took her to a child counsellor in kalyan and they made her to speak and it was further heavy shock to us:
A. The class teacher mrs. Jacqueline forced her to sit on floor in the class many times.
B. The class teacher mrs. Jacqueline threatened mary that she will fail her in all exams.
C. Always the teacher mrs. Jacqueline was speaking very roughly to mary.
8. After telling all these, mary got little relief, upon compelling again she started to go school.
9. There were many incidents like this to other students also and because of the fear no one did not speak.
10. Class teacher mrs. Jacqueline did not stop here, at the recent exam, mary has written well and she was very confident about the exam that she will score good mark, but class teacher mrs. Jacqueline demanded for re-exam which is not required. This made distressed may and she said she will not go to school any more.
11. In continuation to this, class teacher mrs. Jacqueline announced in the class that mary has failed and has to appear for re-exams.
12. This was again too much for mary and she started depressing mood and as advised by our family doctor we have taken her to a child specialist in jj hospital for second time counselling.
Honourable sir, we failed to understand that what the child could have done so wrong to give such harassments and unjustified punishments by class teacher mrs. Jacqueline to our daughter. Also, what stops the school management to warn or take action against the class teacher mrs. Jacqueline.
It has become apparent that class teacher mrs. Jacqueline is not prepared to properly teach students at this grade level, we suspect her education qualification. It is also over heard that many times, she ill-treats other students also in the school, attention of the students are scared and denying the rights of the student to study. The class teacher mrs. Jacqueline keeps herself busy on shouting others in the school which personally observed by my wife while she went to meet her.
Honourable sir, we request you to interfere immediately to resolve this matter because of this teacher’s poor performance and unjustified punishments/harassments the school or students should not suffer any more. Swift action must be taken so our child do not fall any farther behind/depress. Please contact me for any further information.in the meantime, i thank you, in advance, for your prompt attention this matter.
I shall be very thankful for this very kind favor to my child and please take this complain as a serious issue.
