Municipal Corporation Gurgaon — Complaint Regarding Irregular and Unsafe Garbage Collection in Palam Vihar, Gurgaon

Respected Sir/Madam,

I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the highly irregular and unsafe garbage collection system in the Palam Vihar area of Gurgaon.

For the past several weeks, the garbage collection service has been extremely inconsistent. The collection vehicle often does not visit the locality for extended periods, sometimes skipping weeks entirely. This leads to accumulation of waste, creating unhygienic conditions, foul odor, and potential health hazards for residents.

Furthermore, when the garbage truck does arrive, it is already fully loaded—often up to an estimated height of 10–12 feet. Instead of collecting waste from households or designated points, the sanitation workers do not step down from the vehicle. Residents are expected to throw their garbage into a moving and overloaded truck. This practice is not only inconvenient but also highly unsafe.

Elderly residents, as well as middle-aged individuals, find it extremely difficult and risky to lift and throw garbage into such a high and moving vehicle. This increases the likelihood of accidents, injuries, and improper waste disposal.

The current system clearly reflects a lack of proper planning, supervision, and accountability in waste management services in the area. As taxpayers and residents, we expect a basic standard of civic services that ensures cleanliness, safety, and dignity.

In light of the above, I request the concerned authorities to:

Ensure regular and timely garbage collection without long gaps.
Deploy properly managed vehicles that are not overloaded before reaching residential areas.
Instruct sanitation workers to collect garbage from designated collection points or doorstep, instead of requiring residents to throw waste into moving trucks.
Implement strict monitoring and accountability mechanisms for the sanitation staff and contractors.

I urge you to treat this matter with urgency and take immediate corrective action to improve the waste management system in Palam Vihar.
