Sir/Madam,
This is to bring to your attention the unacceptable behaviour of the staff on duty at the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation’s multilevel parking facility at Thampanoor in the early morning hours of October 30, 2025.
There was a queue of vehicles at the entrance—mostly commuters trying to catch early buses or trains. The process was admittedly slow, but that was understandable. However, when my turn arrived to collect a parking ticket, the staff member on duty ignored me and proceeded to attend to a lady who had arrived after me. I politely pointed out that I had been waiting before her, and the lady herself confirmed this.
Instead of correcting the lapse, the staff member responded rudely, remarking that others too may have similar urgencies. With due respect, it is not his place to make such judgments. His duty is simple—to issue tickets in the order of arrival, without bias or commentary.
This incident may appear minor, but it reflects a deep-seated apathy and disregard for the citizens whom these employees are meant to serve. I, as a member of the tax-paying public, expect to be treated with basic respect and dignity. It is, after all, through the taxes we pay that the corporation’s staff receive their remuneration.
I urge the Corporation to take cognizance of this incident and ensure that such behaviour is neither condoned nor repeated. Sometimes, it is these small acts of discourtesy that leave the deepest stains on public trust.
Yours sincerely,
Srikanth Was this information helpful? |
