Private individuals — Illegal Borewell digging

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to complain about illegal borewell digging that is continuously happening at the area near Byrasandra Bus Stop, behind bagmane tech park, CV Raman nagar, Bangalore 560093.

In the past 1.5 months, there has been atleast 5 borewells dug out in this area. And in the past two weeks there have been three borewells attempted. It appears to me that this is being done illegally, since water is a problem in this area. Not only are these borewells posing a threat to the water table, since borewell water is not regulated, the amount of noise and stone dust that is polluting this area has become unbearable. We are unable to breathe fresh air for the past week because of continuous digging and the resulting dust clouds - we have to always keep all the windows closed.

Also, after the digging has been completed, the resulting debris is not cleared away by the owners, but left on the street, which makes it dangerous for commuters in the rainy weather.

Please, we urge you to help us by investigating the borewell digging, and regulate the water consumed by the borewells also. In this time of severe water shortage, people are illegally digging borewells and using up all the water without concerns for the remaining people who do not have access to this kind of borewell water.

We request and urge you with the greatest respect and urgency that you put an end to this abuse of water resources.
