In the NBC, the flight of risers in a staircase is restricted to 12 for buildings in institutional category. Hospitals are designed at slab-to-slab height of 4.2 meters and above. How do we accomplish this design if we have to put 28 risers in the staircase, each riser to be only 150 mm? Infact this calculation can actually make people trip and fall.
Will await answer to this limitation written in the NBC code of India.
