Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Flight QR1406/QR19 – Severe Delay, Lack of Care, and Denied Compensation
On June 20, 2025, I boarded Qatar Airways Flight QR1406 from Lagos, Nigeria, en route to Dublin, Ireland, with a scheduled connection via Doha (Hamad International Airport) on Flight QR19, departing at 01:10 on June 21.
To my dismay, Flight QR19 was cancelled without adequate explanation, and I was left stranded in Doha Airport for over 7 hours—without food, water, or any meaningful assistance. Eventually, I was rebooked on Flight QR17, which departed at 07:25.
This delay caused me to:
Miss critical medical appointments in Dublin
Suffer financial loss due to the spoilage of perishable goods I was transporting
Endure unnecessary stress and discomfort during the layover
When I sought compensation, Qatar Airways refused, citing that they are not bound by EU Regulation EC 261/2004, despite the final leg of my journey being into the EU.
