Chennai Airport-Harassment-Pressure-&-Well-Designed-Loots-Vehicles-Entry-Exit-Arrang...⇄ Once in six months or so i visit Chennai International Airport to pick or drop relatives and friends. Noticed on those occasions printed on vehicle parking ticket is predominant words "fine for loss of ticket is Rs 500". Did not give much attention to it except to keep the ticket safe They have entry cabins with operators at cabins who hand over the tickets taken from auto vehicle number detection and printing machine. Since no vehicles were ahead, i hesitated at the cabin to make sure if it was the point to take parking ticket. But since all the operators of those three cabins did not give any sign to stop me just driven through. Parked the vehicle and went to exit cabins and told them that nowhere i could get parking ticket. They said i would have to prove that that vehicle is mine and pay Rs 500 plus the parking charges. At the exit cabins there is auto/ semi auto open-close gates like in toll gates. But at the entry cabins they have deliberately avoided keeping the auto/ semi auto open close gates. They told me to walk back to entry cabins and to the exact cabin through which i had driven through. There they had about 20 tickets which got printed machine automatically and those tickets not collected by the vehicles driven in. It took some 10 minutes to explain, convince that 6430 is my vehicle, find the ticket bearing that number & collect it. In about an hours for any one entry cabin for the reason there is no lever/ toll gate type open close gate, there are about 20 tickets not collected by public This amounts to fine collection of 20 X Rs 500= Rs 10, 000 per hour per entry cabin. A collection of about a crores of Rupees and more in one day. Plus to the public immeasurable harassment & pressure when tied with schedules of arrival / departure etc. When so much sophistication is possible to photo the license plate of vehicle, extract the number (this so even when vehicle does not stop) why is it they have avoided vehicle stop auto gate ? Is this India which is supposed to be developing in a new direction compared to past corruption soaked direction ? Can this be happening without knowledge and connivance of all high up authorities?
