The Nyburs app, which promotes itself as an “independent Indian social networking platform”, is rapidly drawing criticism from users for its biased moderation and toxic environment. Despite claims of supporting freedom of expression, many users report that only one particular political ideology, aligned with the ruling party, dominates the platform.
Several users have filed complaints and negative reviews, claiming that whenever they post opinions or content that differ from the ruling ideology, their posts are mass-reported and quickly deleted. Users say that Nyburs’ support team often restricts or suspends accounts without fair review, leading to accusations o[censored]njust censorship and suppression of free speech.
Women users have especially voiced serious safety concerns in their reviews. They allege that supporters of a specific political group frequently post offensive, abusive, and vulgar comments on normal photos, making the app unsafe for female participation. According to users, the co-founders, Navin Sharma and Vishal Chaudhary, appear to support the same ideology, leading many to question the neutrality of the platform’s moderation policies.
One user shared a troubling experience, stating that users with extremist views often send obscene messages, and if ignored, they resort to harassment and reporting the victim’s profile to get it restricted.
