OPLUS XONPHONE 5 BATTERY PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
The NEW HI QUALITY REPLACEMENT BATTERY i.e. KARBONN KB 5D S3 2000mAh ordered from ebay.in (through seller gwalaniyogesh) fitted well in my Oplus Xonphone 5. The only thing is that the bottom hard plastic strip had to be broken, got removed alongwith shortening the side strips (because of the bit extra height of the Karbonn battery) and then putting half of the removed bottom strip back in position while fixing the battery in mobile phone.
And now, here are the steps to help fellow victims of Snapdeal/Oplus facing battery unavailability problem: -
1) First remove the adhesive wrapper of the Karbonn battery (the plastic coat labelled with the battery make, specifications, etc.) by lifting stuck edges from behind the battery with a knife. Remove it slowly from both edges, rolling and partially removing upto sideways only. Do not remove it completely. Now, break complete bottom plastic strip. This can be done by moving knife, other blade in hacksaw style on both the ends. Do not break into small pieces, remove it complete only as it may be needed to be reused as explained later to serve as a packing.
2) Next, try to put the battery in phone, only to find that it doesn't fit being a bit oversize in height. So, remove it, cut the extra height of the plastic side guards from bottom on both sides (hacksaw style) and remove the cut portions. Now, the battery should fit fine.
However, If you notice that it's a bit loose, then only go to step 4 after step 3, else omit step 4.
3) Finally, Re-wrap the outer plastic coat to its original condition now & fix the battery.
If by mistake, the side strip(s) breaks from top too, just hold them in the same position as they were while re-wrapping the unwrapped plastic cover around them. This would hold them intact as good as the original positions.
4) Do this only if your battery fits loose & need a packing, else omit it: -
From the removed bottom strip, cut half of it and glue it (with fevikwik) to the RHS side strip. RHS Reference: Bottom strip's piece should appear glued to shortened side guard (from bottom right to bottom centre i.e. half length) considering the battery kept in the fixing position i.e. the upside arrow on the battery facing towards you.
Upon fixing the battery, i[censored] notice charging screen does not remain steady, blinks on & off continuously, remove battery and check if you've forgot to remove the small plastic tape over the battery contacts. Remove this small plastic insulator and things should be fine now. Charge it and it's ready to use.
In my case, it didn't charge as expected, by other chargers, so I used Samsung fast charger and everything is great. However, see if your charger suits you and if not, charge the battery with Samsung Fast charger as I did.
Thanks!
