Pensioner — Tax Deduction on Arrears of Sixth Pay Commission

To whom it may concern Information required for payment of Income Tax on Arrears of Sixth Pay Commission in respect of PPO No.[protected] I am writing on behalf of my mother Tatiana Trindade Fernandes who receives Family Pension after the demise of my father, Pensioner Dr. I.C. Dos M. Pais Cuddou. My mother is 86 years of age and as such her pension p.a. is not taxable, however, we do not know how the taxation is handled on arrears received by herfrom the Sixth Pay Commission in the last financial year. I have since one year been checking with the disbursing bank, State Bank of India, Margao, Goa about whether tax would be deducted at source. They are clueless and claim there are no instructions for the same from the CPPC which is responsible. The CPAO has informed me that the CPPC is responsible for tax deductions As tax returns have to be filed this month, not having any information from any source is becoming a problem as I have been asked to fill form 10E and submit for IT Filing My mother is very old and ill and I appreciate if someone can guide me on this immediately.
