pondicherry — Revised age for admission to class 1

Sir/Madam !

Like all parents, I was extremely shocked to hear about the recent change in the age criteria of kids applying to class 1. Changing the minimum age to 6 will definitely be a problem for parents, whose kids were born after April 1st 2016, and who were eagerly looking forward to start a new journey in a KV school. Being a central government staff, I was really hoping to put my 5.5 year old boy in a KV School, but unfortunately the revised age, has put a halt to my dream and my boy's right to education. So, all the kids born in 2016, after 1st April, are they unlucky to not having been born earlier? This decision will certainly affect many parents across the country, and might also impact the admission rate for this academic year.
I humbly request you to hear our pleas, consider parents' situation and our kids' right to education, and change the minimum age of admission to class 1, to age 5.
