My father owns a Renault Duster which was purchased on 27-May-2014. We have been regular with the prescribed service and maintenance schedule. However, on 19-Dec-2020, we got red warning light on and upon inspection at your service centre they identified that the root cause for the same was a malfunctioning fuel injector. We were enroute the marriage ceremony of our nephew along with my family. On the said day we got stranded in the middle of highway with family and this caused great personal trouble which we would not like to elaborate over here.
As recommended by the technicians, we opted to replace the fuel injector. We took delivery of the vehicle after the aforementioned replacement on 24-Dec-2020. It costed around Rs. 27000/-.
Within 8 months of the replacement the issue resurfaced and once again the issue was identified as malfunctioning fuel injector. Upon visiting the service station, we were advised to replace the fuel injector again. This incident took place in Aug 2021. On 30-Aug-2021, we took delivery of the vehicle after fuel injector replacement and this time around it costed us more than Rs. 27000/-.
Again, in October 2021, we have got the warning signal. This happened in a matter of days and not months after the second repair. We cannot imagine the agony of being stranded on the road with family and / or shelling out money for another part replacement.
Looking at the long list of complaints on fuel injector issue, it seems to be an old and known issue and Renault has not fixed it so far. Renault has transferred the burden on to the shoulders of the customers who are left to pay huge amount for repair and replacement. The experience of owning Renault Duster has been one of the poorest for any product in our life.
I doubt the reliability of this car and its suitability to the Indian conditions. Despite being regular with the vehicle service we had to incur exorbitant amounts as repair charges. As a customer, I expected a reliable happy ownership experience and reasonable wear and tear for atleast 10 years. Was this information helpful? |
