In the last week of March 2025, I contacted TutaScreen for a battery replacement for my iPhone Xr. During my initial discussions via call and WhatsApp messages, they assured me that they would provide an original battery replacement for ₹3500. On Friday, 28th March 2025, a representative collected my phone along with two other devices (iPhone Xr, LG V30+ and LG G8X ThinQ) which needed software bootloader access. Prior to giving my iPhone Xr I had backed up all the data and important WhatsApp messages. My intention to replace the battery was so, I could sell the phone for a better price. Because the other two phones needed some software related trickery, I asked the team to deliver it on Monday, but they insisted to deliver it on Sunday, because their technical team did not know the process. So, I agreed and asked them to come by 5.00PM.
By the time the Tutascreen delivery person had come it was about at 8:45 PM with only 2% battery remaining in the device was not sufficiently charged to check everything what I had also noticed while collecting the phone was, it was set on dark mode (Technically, once a phone battery is replaced and switched on the phone resets to factory settings and it goes to the original light mode, there was no reason to change it to dark mode, until and unless they were hiding something from plain sight.) Later in the night while charging the device. I switched it from “Dark Mode” to “Light Mode” and I immediately noticed the white spots and light bleed and black mark on the bottom left corner of the screen (images provided), that when I realized they may had switched it dark mode so, I do notice it (Important: from the receipt with order#: 695 which the collection representative provided he checked the device and had ticked the screen was in perfect condition prior to taking it to TutaScreen service centre.) I immediately reached out to the delivery representative, because he did not respond I reached out to Sarvesh of TutaScreen over WhatsApp ([protected]) from my secondary WhatsApp contact number, since I had not set up my device by then. The very next day I had followed up in morning contacting the delivery representative on his contact number: [protected] and informed him that my screen was damaged on the bottom left corner, he informed the incident with the concerned person, who promised to replace the damaged screen at no additional charge, but in return asked me to replace my negative review for a positive one over WhatsApp. However, two days from reporting this incident with the team, I also noticed a lot of inconsistencies after charging the new battery to 100%, it dropped by huge margin of 9% within a minute o[censored]se—an unusual behavior for a genuine battery.
Further investigation revealed that the battery replacement was not reflecting on the iPhone's "About Phone " section which it should if it is a genuine battery (photo attached, looks like they bypassed a few processes so it does not display here). This information should be visible if the battery is genuine as claimed by TutaScreen (Having that data clearly shows the battery was replaced with a new one, which inspires confidence.) Additionally, I found that they had disabled analytics reports to hide the true charging cycle data, So I switched on the diagnostic report toggle to be generated by the phone and then checked it and to my surprise the new battery's milli-ampere data did not match the original specifications of 2942 mAh and was significantly higher and true battery health stood at 98.13%. To make things worse, despite charging to full capacity on March 30th, the battery count showed zero cycles (screenshots attached), confirming that my doubt that they installed was a counterfeit battery, this has also caused some other complications: Now, I am unable to restore important conversations on to my phone which I had backed up prior to giving the phone to Tutascreen and the fact the battery drains really fast when in use.
I opted for TutaScreen because of pickup and drop and they confirming over both calls and WhatsApp chat they were offering original iPhone Xr battery and they had it in stock, when compared to Reliance Digital and Aptronix who asked for long time because lack of stock, considering the device is old so, getting it could take time. However, they misled me into believing I was receiving an original authentic iPhone battery when in fact I was given a counterfeit product worth approximately ₹1500 when I checked with friend who opted to go for counterfeit battery options from the market.
Despite their initial offer to replace my damaged screen with a genuine one, there has been no follow-up action from TutaScreen. Each time I inquire about scheduling the pickup for the screen replacement or addressing my concerns about the battery issue, their has been no response from their end. Moreover, they have not acknowledged my recent messages on WhatsApp and their phone line often indicates they are unavailable or busy. I also tried contacting the collection representative, but he messaged stating he’s busy and will call later and since then hasn’t called or is responding to my calls (check call history.)
