RR Donnelley — Job Misrepresentation/Employment Plus/Thurmont MD

On 7/8/2015 I came across a ad in the Frederick News Post, Frederick, MD about a job fair scheduled for 7/15/2015 at RR Donnelley in Thurmont, MD. It said be there at 10:00 am sharp with 2 forms of ID. I showed up early with my IDs and interview attire. The other 6 prospects showed up in jeans and T shirts. I believed that the actual company (RR Donnelley) was holding this job fair. 20 minutes late the POP Supervisor/Recruiter of Employment Plus (who I am assuming was Antonette Levin) she never introduced herself but was noted as contact on the piece of paper I was given when I left. It was then we became aware that we would be working for a temporary agency. This recruiter immediately acknowledged a girl in our group by name - this girl did not want to be a temp with Employment Plus and unbeknownst to the recruiter had been talking about working at RR Donnelleys through Employment Plus before and that after 90 days the whole group she had started with including herself was let go because of not wanting to pay benefits. She didn't want to go through that again and got up to leave. She wanted to work for RR Donnelley. Your recruiter told her to go home and apply on your website and that she would call her no later than 1:30 and do whatever she could to help her accomplish just that. I was led to believe that there would be "on the spot" interviews, not a tour of the facility. We were led upstairs and salary, shoe requirements, shifts and ear plugs were discussed. One of the men in the group said his ad for the job fair stated the starting wage was $15.00 a hour. The recruiter stuttered and said "oh no, our agency never pays that here" She quickly moved away from that subject. Then we were introduced to KeSonya Milligan (Staff Performance Assistant) whose greatest accomplishment seemed to be remembering everybody's names. We were told 20 times that after the tour if we thought this work was something we would like to do to call KeSonya and set up a interview. I called KeSonya at 11:02 to let her know I was interested and she told me I had to fill out an application on Employment Plus's website and when I was finished to call her back to schedule a interview. I completed the app and called back at 2:01 but got the answering machine. I left the appropriate message for a call back about scheduling my interview. No response! But at 2:34 I get a text message asking me if I wanted to participate in "call-em-all text info job alerts. Is this their way of saying they are not interested in me. I do not believe in texting when it comes to serious subjects such as jobs. Maybe I am old school - proud of it! I did some internet surfing last night and found out you guys hold a job fair every Wednesday at 10:00 am at RR Donnelleys and one ad said there was a $500.00 sign on bonus after 45 days which was never brought up during the tour. Sadly I believe that girl who said groups are replaced every 90 days. If it wasn't true you wouldn't need so many job fairs. I feel Employment Plus came up with this idea to keep Employment Plus employed. How many great potential employees have fallen for this?? Or how many great employees have been let go?? I am a good person, a hard worker and at the very least deserved the interview promised.
