Dear Sir/Madam,
I would like to bring to the limelight a major concern regarding wrong prognosis done by an ENT specialist by the name Mr. Srinivas who visits patients in Satya Hoapital, Kamanhalli on Weekdays from 7pm onwards with the address given as under:
No. 45, C. Ramaiah Layout, Kamanahalli Main Road, St. Thyomas Town Post, Bangalore-560084.
I had taken my father Richard Gomes aged about 64 yrs and booked an appointment with the doctor on 10th of June at 7pm. My father was complaining of an ear pain extending up to jaws and the head with a hint of giddiness and loss of balance.
He had got his pressure checked a day back and it was normal. The doctor asked him whether he had any injury in the ear by any means. He confessed that he had used an ear bud to clean his ears. When the doctor checked with his precision torch he declared that this pain was because of a rapture caused to his ear drum while cleaning.
We had no other choice but to accept the facts as gullible individuals. He then went on to prescribe a few medicines to ease the pain. The medicines are named as Zedocef, Rabonik (Pain killer), and Erinac for 5 days.
When we asked him whether the medicines given were anti bio-tics to which he started acting cocky and gave us an evasive answer saying that " You don't need to know what exactly it is that i am giving to you . You just need to take it".
That is not becoming of a doctor in such a profession. A patient has every right to know what he/she is being administered. We are not uneducated imbeciles.
After taking the medication for three days, his condition aggravated and his face started getting deformed and the pain shifted from the head to the jaws and finally to the mouth and it was very unbearable. He was unable to stand on his feet and open his eyes and mouth normally.
It was then that i took him to a neurosurgeon in Hutchins Road who immediately identified the crux of the problem as "Bells Palsy" which is a paralysis of the face affecting the facial nerve connected to the brain and causes the face to get deformed with excruciating pain. A little more delay could have been fatal.I could finally bring my father back to life and now he is taking medicines along with Physiotherapy and recuperating to normalcy slowly.
I honestly feel that such doctors should be penalized and put behind bars with their licence to practice confiscated. They mislead people to wrong diagnosis and wrong medication which can sometimes be fatal. I would like to lodge a complain against this doctor on grounds of culpable homicide and appreciate some proceedings and inquiry to be conducted against him by suitable authorities. I want him to apologize for his mis-conduct with a Senior Citizen and accept accountability for wrong diagnosis.
