I got a call from a girl representative saying that I have been selected as of the reputed HDFC credit card customers and they are offering me many discounts and offers.
They offered me a total of 5 services.
1. 6000 worth meal vouchers.
2. International trip with family.
3. Some vouchers for shopping
4. 1000 cashback if I spend more than 10, 000 in any month.
5. I cannot remember exactly.
The call was in such a convincing tone that they ended up asking for if I was interested to make the payment.
I knew that it's a fake call, so I asked YES.
They sent me a PayU Money payment link which was registered for www.shopedge.co.in.
While checking in Domain whois database, I found that this domain is expiring on 1st May 2019.
Here are my observations.
1. No company would register a domain name for such a short time.
2. I haven't spent that much money on my card that I got selected as a reputed customer.. LOL
3. They have very few products listed on this website which makes it a scammy website.
4. The person (who claimed to be a senior person) was so much aggressive in his tone.
5. They have replicated their payment gateway link with HDFC.
and at the end, they asked for 8450 INR for the whole process.
All I can say is, this is a scam call and stay away from it.
