1. There was no water in either toilet or in the wash basin. On enquiry, I was told that they hadn't had water since the previous evening. I found it impossible to believe that a 24-hr service IOCL "company Outlet" would deny the customers such a basic courtesy. Couldn't they provide at least a barrel full of water if they couldn't, for whatever reason, provide running water for a few hours?
2. It took me a little over five minutes and a great deal of insistence to make the payment (Rs 1350) via the UPI app. The operator wanted me to credit the amount to a private number, which I refused. Finally, they got the QR code on the POS device and I could scan it and make the payment. Why did they have to waste such a lot of time accepting payment?
3. I asked to speak to the manager. But the manager they identified for me was different from the manager identified for my wife (who also wanted to speak to the manager about the stinking bathroom and absence of water). It appeared to me that the operators were dodging us. Perhaps none of them wanted to take responsibility for managing the Outlet.
4. As the petrol station is advertised prominently as "Company Outlet, " I expected it to be owned and operated by IOCL, and expected high quality service. That the claim was misleading became apparent when I received the receipt from St George Fuels. It is just another IOCL dealer.
