This complaint is against Star Plus serial ‘Imlie’. Although tortured by this serial since long, I have been avoiding lodging any formal complaint against it, until it triggered me when your STAR PLUS platform was misused by the makers of ‘Imlie’ to promote the serial on STAR PLUS’ owned program STAR PARIWAR on 12/6/20022 by using ‘Imlie’ as mouth-piece to mis-argue against the sentiments and value system of a large section of the viewers who feel that ‘Imlie’ and ‘Aryan’ have committed sins by torturing Aditya through their Emotional Extra Marital Affairs, smashing of the Imlie-Aditya marriage, berating and humiliating Aditya, even physically assaulting him, then ruining Aditya’s life and lives of those associated with him, and finally ‘Imlie’ leaving Aditya in lurch and marrying Aryan. This large section of viewers has abandoned the show ‘Imlie’ on this count, crashing its once soaring TRP to its extant low value. Instead of correcting themselves and assuaging the hurt of this section of viewers, the makers used ‘Imlie’ on your STAR PARIWAR platform to further hurt it by saying, “I am a free bird who got accidentally locked in a cage (by marrying Aditya and living with him in his family as one of his two wives), but now I have freed myself from the cage with the help of Aryan, and now I am, and will soar high”. This is not only hurting, but also insulting the mental and emotional faculty of the said segment of viewers. The facts of the matter in brief, as well known, are: 1) Aditya was forced to marry ‘Imlie’ at a time when he was about to get married to Malini, 2) Aditya, did not lodge FIR against the perpetrators of this marriage because that would harm ‘Imlie’, her family and villagers, 3) Aditya did not abandon ‘Imlie’ despite this marriage being legally null and void because that would ruin her life, and because she pleaded him for not doing so, 3) a tacit agreement was done between Aditya and Imlie that Aditya would not consider her as his wife, while she may do so, but would keep her in his house and arrange for her education until she became independent, 4) Aditya tried to inform Malini about this forced marriage many times, but could not do so because every time Malini started collapsing, and so, he finally gave up 5) this arrangement carried on smoothly, until Aditya married Malini with the active consent and participation of Imlie, and then Malini’s mother started treating Imlie as a maid servant, while others never did so, 6) the problem started when the marriage of Aditya and Imlie got disclosed, Imlie too, like Malini claimed Aditya as her husband, Aditya got sandwiched between these two wives conspiring against each other as he could not favour one against the other, 7) ‘Imlie’ left Aditya’s house accusing him that he does not trust her, that is, Aditya does not take the stern action against Malini despite Imlie having proofs against her (Aditya couldn’t have taken those actions because that would mean extreme harm to Malini), 8) Imlie contacted Emotional Extra Marital Relationship with Aryan leading to mutual consensual divorce between Imlie and Aditya, 9) Thereafter, Imlie and Aryan continuously berated, humiliated and tortured Aditya, and whenever Aditya even feebly protested then Imlie accused him of slinging mud at her, 10) Imlie and Aryan jointly exposed Malini of her evil deeds upon which Aditya asked Malini to leave him and his family, which she did painfully, 10) but Imlie did not go back to Aditya, but married Aryan instead leaving Aditya, Malini, an unborn child and the entire family shattered and devastated.
Rest of the story is well known and the serial is carrying on with its crashed TRP. If Imlie had no intentions to go back to Aditya why did she expose Malini, and thus ruined lives. Was it just to prove a point, or was it a pre-planned brutal devastation of life. We consider Imlie and Aryan sinners on this count and have abandoned this show because the Indian ethos does not accept tainted characters as Heroes and Heroines.
Therefore, what ‘Imlie’ said at STAR PARIWAR show on 12/6/22 to promote the show ‘Imlie’ is totally wrong, hurting, and full of insult. In fact, Imlie is a bird who entered a house (nest, not cage) where she got love and respect, but she vitiated the atmosphere, then she left the house (nest, not cage), came back with her Emotionally Extra Marital partner Aryan, sprayed gasoline in the house (nest, not cage) and set it afire. What is even more hurtful is that STAR PLUS permitted this washing of dirty linen on its own show STAR PARIWAR. We, therefore, request you to take corrective action. The best is to close this show ‘Imlie’ and give chance to so many good shows lined up seeking prime slot on your esteemed channel.
