We understand that you found our service charges on higher side, but that’s the premium fee which our customers has to bear for our premium services.
In your case, we had taken your approval/ consignment at each step, and you had agreed for all these terms. You had been also informed about the possibilities of recovering data from your Hard drive,
Here are series of incidents which happened in your case:
When you came with your Hard disk for your Data recovery in Our Gurgaon Branch; our representative explained you our data recovery process thoroughly. You had been informed that the first step which we do in all data recovery cases is analyzing your media device(Hard Disk). Once we analyze the media device, we know the extent of damage on the media device. Based upon extent of damage and data which can be recovered our service charge is calculated. Unless our experts don’t know the extent of damage we can’t tell you exact price for our service, because there are some high end skilled engineers who work on these kind of assignments. Sometime media devices are not damaged, and recovering data from such devices is an easier task for us, hence we provide a minimum estimate to all our clients, assuming that devices are not in a bad state. You had also been informed about a minimum cost from where our services start, and you also had been informed that price can go higher, depending upon state of your media device.
During our initial analysis, if we can’t see the possibility of recovering data, we take next step and go for deeper analysis, which sometime may require to open your hard disks. Opening a media device is very tricky job; it’s like a surgeon doing a surgery for a patient. When our experts examined your hard disk, we found that your hard disk is physically damaged, and we need to open your hard disk to recover fix this issue. We always do such an activity in a very sterilized environment, which is in our Class 100 room. While we do any such operation with any kind of media device, we always take permission from the device owner. Once we got the permission form our clients, then only we open your media device.
As you can recollect, you had given us permission to open your Hard disk. Our email had a clear warning that a tempered/opened hard disk cannot be used further, until its fixed by experts. We understand the importance of data hence seek permission of the customer at each and every step.
We never misguided you; you have been informed at each step, and an approval has been taken from you. We also informed you, we would be able to recover around 80% of your data from your physically damaged hard disk. Please understand that your hard disk was tempered, and we had to use our premium software’s/highly trained engineers to recover your data. Our service charges may had appeared to be a bit on higher side, but we charge this for our expertise.
We understand that you are facing some financial difficulties, but we are also doing our work that involves used of high level experts and specialized lab services to secure data perfectly that we promise our customers.

I agree with the above complaint, they say that charges will be starting from 2500 but then they send you a whopping 49, 500 charges receipt and demand to get 50% out of it in advance, are you freaking out of your mind 49, 500 Rs. For 250 or 300 GB of data to recover, I can go to Nehru place and can recover the same data for 4, 500 or 5, 000, I thought may be its a printing mistake of 49, 500 but then I came to see this complaint, seriously guys you are duping the customers of their money.
They say that 500 rs is for the pick up and drop facility and are non refundable which I can agree if they do not charge 49000 for a mere data, So please guys if you do want to get your data recovered without giving extra 500 then please don't got to stellar.
P.S. - Please take permission from the manufacturing company before you give permission to open your hard disk, I don't know why Stellar is hiding this info of getting permission from the company, clearly they don't want their customer to get their data recovered from other sources, this is clear case of hiding information.

I have given a HDD whose data is overwritten due to mirror raid and the data of first HDD got written in the affected one which we have sent to stellar, kolkata.
I was demanded Rs700 for registration which is non refundable which which they won't go for process. So afer payment i have sent the HDD to kolkata office and i was informed that there is chance of recovery of 60-70% and asked me pay Rs3450 for further recovery but after i was given remote picture of file that can be recovered, i told that there is no matching of the file and folder which was overwritten and i want te data before overwritten due to raid.
And the engineer told that, ok i wil inform.
But next remote picture we never got and after few days they informed that the HDD wouldn't be returned until and unless we pay the remaining data recovery fees which is about 4000.
Now i would like to know if there is rule that no recovery no fees, then why are not returning my money.
Also they have public an article in a stellar blog that data overwritten can be recovered.

You are not number one company in data recovery rather you are number one company in doing fraud. I gave usb drive 2 TB for data recovery. I asked company to safely return it to me. I clearly told company not to open hard case as this is under warranty. Even after giving my instructions, company opened hard case. Now, no one has explained me why did company open hard drive. I will not recommend the service at all. They are not professional at all.

I got three call from your company. You were trying to prove that I gave you hard disk in bad shape or I may have repaired hard disk from some other vendor before giving to your company. So that is why, I have received hard disk in bad shape. So does it mean that before giving hard disk to you, I should record the condition of hard disk?

Its really disappointing if you expect something from a service provider and not even get 10% of it after paying the full payment.
Yes, I have received the data after recovery which is totally of no use. Steller don't have any after-sales service as they don't even bother to answer your question after the full payment around 20K INR. A very very bad experience for me after getting connected to steller till the data delivery.
I don't know whether I will get any resolution after sending this mail, but requesting steller, not to play with client's expectations and time and money. Please provide a small gesture after the service. Please keep a grievance cell at least for customers.
And please don't force anyone to sign the acceptance letter even before checking the whole data.
I mentioned clearly while booking, that I only want the .mp4 files and nothing else form the hard disk I have provided. But the files steller has given me does not have any audio in it. Even the videos are not clear and shaky.
The steller authority was continuously mis-leaded / misguided me in many aspects.
1. First I was told that, may be some .mp4 files have some audio problems, and I agreed with that. They should know the difference between the terms - "problem with audio" and "no audio". They should have told me the real scenario. They lied.
2. Now in the validation process, they just showed me 1-2 videos which were running through anydesk, but after getting the delivery, we discovered that 90% videos are not working properly. They given some .mov files to me which I have not asked for. I only wanted .mp4 files as mentioned on the document. And now they are keep telling that they have recovered .mov files also (which I don't need).
3. Another thing is communication - Every time, I had to call steller for any information, there is no intimation from steller's end (except the payment link). They even did not tell me that I have to give the permission to open the Hard disk through mail. After 4-5 days of no response when I called them, they asked me to send the mail. Only for the payment they called me 2-3 times a day.
4. Most important - They completely mis-leaded me and forced me to sign the 'data acceptance' letter and give my company stamp on it before handing over the data. That means, even before checking the whole data they forced me to sign the delivery paper. Now when I reached to them with the issue, they are saying, we can't help it as the data is already delivered.
On the day of delivery, steller has refused my person to handover the data and asked me to sign the acceptance letter. On the next day he again went there and steller forced us to sign the acceptance letter otherwise refused to give the data for checking. Can you just believe that !
5. Now since last one month (from 1st week of feb 2022), I was continuously asking them to connect me to anyone from grievance cell, they keep giving me false promises and never connected me to any official where i can share my problem. I connected multiple times only to here that we call you back. That call never came.
Now after 1 month of followup, finally I connected to Srabani Chattejee from Kolkata, India steller office and she asked me to lodge the complaint.
Now My total money and 2 months time, both are lost and it affected my business very hard.
Please look into this matter and try to provide any resolution, as the hard disk is still with steller. Otherwise please reply me atleast that you will not care about you customers and never give any resolution.
I dont want any money refund for this or will disturb steller, but please at least reply on this.
