I want to share my experience with TCS for anyone with temporary residency planning to apply for PR.
I was so excited to request my employment letter, thinking it would be easy since TCS deals with many temporary residents. I was wrong. I initially requested an employment letter confirming my period of employment and my role within the company. Instead, I was offered a skill certificate, for which I was told to contact my previous manager to obtain approval.
Here’s the situation:
I have no contact with my previous manager or team, as the relationship was strictly professional.
I no longer have access to the TCS system and cannot obtain this approval.
My request is for a standard employment document, which should be issued by HR based on internal records. I trust TCS keeps records of every employee, including my role and responsibilities, and I do not understand why manager approval is being requested.
Despite explaining this, I am currently still going back and forth with HR to get this simple document. Obtaining an employment letter from TCS has been harder and far more stressful than applying for a work permit.
When I worked at TCS, more than 50% of my coworkers had temporary residency, meaning they will eventually need PR. How are we supposed to proceed if TCS is unable or unwilling to provide such a basic document for immigration purposes?
I hope my experience helps others plan ahead and understand that even a simple employment verification from TCS can be a complicated and stressful process for temporary residents. Was this information helpful? |
