The Royale Peacock — Unfair Trade Practice / E-commerce / Non-Refund Policy
I am a first-time customer of Royale Peacock, an Agra-based footwear brand. I ordered a pair of shoes from their official website priced at Rs. 5, 699/-. At the time of checkout, a promo code was automatically applied without my knowledge or manual selection, reducing the price by Rs. 284.95 and I paid Rs. 5, 414/-. After delivery, I faced the following issues: The shoe size is incorrect. I usually wear size 7 across other brands, but this shoe is at least two sizes larger, making it unwearable. The leather is extremely hard and of poor comfort quality. When I attempted to return the product, the company refused, citing that “since a discount code was applied, the order is non-refundable and eligible only for exchange.” This condition was neither disclosed clearly at checkout nor consented to by me. It is unfair to deprive a consumer of refund rights over a nominal discount, especially when the product itself is defective and unsuitable. I also contacted their representative over the phone, who initially assured me that the matter would be resolved and even agreed to consider a partial deduction before refund. However, after that conversation, the representative has stopped responding and the number is not reachable. This amounts to unfair trade practice and misleading conduct under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Relief Sought: A full refund of Rs. 5, 414/-, OR at minimum, refund after a reasonable deduction. Strict action against the company for adopting unfair policies and misleading practices. Was this information helpful?
