Toyota Showroom And Indian Voc Of Toyota — serious safety concern and quality lapses following vehicle repairs
I have sent the below email to VOC of Toyota both showroom and India head, but of no use. Noone take care of it. I still didnt get the receipt; no one actually cared about the customers who paid in lakhs for fixing the car. I would like to formally bring to your attention a serious and potentially life‑threatening incident that occurred recently, which I believe is directly linked to the quality of repairs performed by AKASHKRISH Toyota. While traveling with my family, my wife, a teenage daughter, and a 2‑year‑old child my vehicle failed to accelerate despite pressing the accelerator. Instead, the car began rolling backward due to the incline of a bridge. This occurred while a lorry was directly behind us, creating an extremely dangerous situation. I managed to apply the brakes to prevent the car from rolling further, turned on the hazard indicators, and was fortunate that the lorry driver recognized the situation and changed lanes in time. We narrowly avoided what could have been a fatal incident. I immediately contacted the Toyota helpline. A towing vehicle arrived after 2.5 hours. During this entire time, my family including a small child was stranded on the roadside, exposed to traffic and public attention, under extremely distressing conditions. Why did this happen? This vehicle(TN64M2526) had recently been returned to me after accident-related repairs carried out by AKASHKRISH Toyota, for which I paid approximately ₹223319 out of pocket. Background for Context On July 24, 2025, my car was involved in an accident when a lorry hit multiple vehicles, including mine. I handed over the car to AKASHKRISH Toyota the same night, trusting that an authorized Toyota dealer would restore the vehicle to safe, road‑worthy condition. The vehicle was returned to me only on December 18, 2025, after more than five months. During this period, I repeatedly checked with the Service Manager, Mr. Saravanan, specifically regarding the clutch and brake condition. On November 24, I was informed that there were no issues with either. Before delivery, I asked whether an oil change was done, considering the car had been idle for over five months. I was told it had not been done, and I requested and paid for it. At the same time, I again requested a clutch inspection and was advised that no issues were found. I relied on this guidance and took delivery of the vehicle "a decision that put my family at serious risk." This raises a fundamental concern about whether critical components like the clutch were adequately inspected before being declared fit for use. Response and Handling To date, I have not received a clear or satisfactory explanation from Mr. Saravanan or Mr. Kiran regarding: Why the clutch concern raised multiple times was not acted upon. Why inspection was dismissed as unnecessary, despite my explicit request and willingness to pay. The response that “the clutch is a wear‑and‑tear item and can fail anytime” is not acceptable in this context. If that is the case, should it not have been properly inspected especially after a major accident and prolonged workshop stay? I never refused inspection costs. I paid for oil changes when advised, and I would have paid for inspection as well had I been informed honestly. Additional Quality and Conduct Concerns I also observed the following issues that are deeply concerning: Billing and Documentation The payment receipt for accident repairs was not provided until Feb 10, and only after repeated follow‑ups. The soft copy billing I received is also not showing the full money I paid. Even today, I have not received a hard copy. Payment was processed immediately, yet issuing a receipt was treated as optional. This reflects poorly on basic service discipline. Unprofessional Conduct During a discussion on Saturday, February 7 (between 3:30 PM and 5:00 PM), Mr. Kiran responded dismissively while my wife was explaining the roadside ordeal. Her account was mocked as “just traffic, ” and our experience was trivialized. This interaction was inappropriate and disrespectful, especially given the seriousness of the incident. (This can be verified via room recordings, if available.) Post‑Repair Quality Issues Paint residue found stuck in the door. Visible rust in the diesel tank area. Instead of resolving it, additional paint was applied on February 7, worsening the appearance. This is particularly concerning for a panel replaced barely 1.5 months ago on the rust formation, raising questions about part quality and authenticity. A scratch on the rear door plastic panel with no explanation. A remark overheard from a mechanic suggesting the clutch “may fail within 500 km, ” which is alarming for a Toyota vehicle and contradicts earlier assurances. My Concerns and Expectations Given the above, I am seeking clarity on the following: What are the next steps to address these serious safety and quality concerns? How can I be expected to take delivery of a vehicle when I no longer have confidence in the workmanship and inspection standards? How does AKASHKRISH Toyota intend to acknowledge/compensate and address the 2.5 hours my family was stranded on the road due to issues that should have been identified earlier? What corrective actions will be taken to ensure such oversights do not put other customers at similar risk? I consider myself fortunate that no accident occurred that day. However, the incident raises broader concerns about preventable risks arising from incomplete inspections and communication gaps. I expect a clear, accountable, and timely response addressing both the technical issues and the service experience. Was this information helpful?
