I would like to report a lack of transparency at the VFS Global Visa Application Centre in Kolkata regarding the Premium Lounge service.
Applicants are not clearly informed that the Premium Lounge is an optional value-added service. In some cases, it appears to be presented as mandatory or added without an explicit opt-in choice. There is no clear verbal confirmation that this service is voluntary before payment is processed.
As VFS operates on behalf of Schengen member state consulates (including Germany), all value-added services should be transparently communicated and strictly optional.
This practice may mislead applicants and result in unnecessary additional charges. I request that VFS ensure:
Clear disclosure that Premium Lounge is optional;
Explicit consent before adding any value-added service;
Staff training to avoid implying mandatory purchase.
