Vicky Pg, 294/55 Sector-55 Gurugram — Security Money not returned

I am a resident of Korba, Chhattisgarh, and a working professional at Gurugram Sec-55. Currently, I am doing WFH (Work From Home) from my hometown Korba. I was residing as a PG (Paying Guest) for 2 years at an address - 294/55 "Prasanna Santhanam", Sec-55, Sushant Lok Phase-2, near Kinder Plume School, Gurugram, 122011- since Dec. 2018 and left the PG in mid-May 2021. The issue I am facing is with the Security Money of Rs.8700 deposited on Dec. 2018, of which I don't have any written agreement, it was an oral agreement. All the rent paid was online.
I informed my PG landlord on May 3, that I will be leaving the PG that month. I left the PG in Mid-may and came back to my hometown Korba. For 2 months I was trying to get a talk with him about the security deposit refund, and I was getting a reply that he will call me later. Till July, I tried calling him again and again, and finally, he agreed to talk. Upon conversation, he started stating falsely that the Air-conditioning unit was damaged, its wire was burned, its other systems stopped working and I didn't wait for the final inspection.

The landlord is falsely using my security deposit for the AC damage which is not happened because of me, even after I have told him, repeatedly in April, that the AC is not working and needs repair. Also, I had already informed him about my leaving and have had the conversation that he will visit, but he didn't. And so he is not returning my Security deposit of Rs.8700.

I have the relevant chats and voice recordings since Apr-July 2021. And I only have the online transaction of my first rent and security deposit made on Dec.2018 when I started living in the PG, as there was only an oral agreement between us, and neither the voice recording nor any paperwork is present with me. I have all these saved in Google drive which I can share as per your reply.

I feel being cheated and I want to ask if I can file a complaint against my landlord. Also, in doing so, do I have to be present in person in any matter, or the case can be moved via a Virtual meeting during this pandemic period?
