I am sharing this experience so other families can make informed decisions.
My elderly mother (79) was admitted for approximately 18 hours due to vomiting/gastroenteritis and discharged the next morning. While the medical care was satisfactory, I have serious concerns regarding the billing transparency.
The final hospital bill was ₹20, 300, discounted by 1% to exactly ₹20, 000—the same amount collected as an advance at admission. We were also billed ₹6, 100 for four brief doctor visits, ₹500 for Biomedical Waste, and ₹500 for MRD Charges. No medicines appeared on the hospital invoice, as we had to purchase injections, saline, and consumables separately from an outside pharmacy for ₹1, 737.55.
