Dear sir,
1. I am maj ranjit hs (Retd). On 13 july 2017, at 1845 hrs in front of
Restaurant 'arippa' near jos junction my wife, mrs manju ranjit fell into the canal left open by the workers assigned by corporation of kochi. There was no warning signage/ blockade to warn the pedestrians. Myself and my wife
Was walking along the footpath after parking our car in the roadside.
It was raining heavily and the roadside was waterlogged. We came across this patch of open canal with dirty deposits of canal thrown on to the side of canal. The surface of dirty water in the canal was continuous suspended foam which in limited light gave us an impression of concrete slab (Photos attached). Feeling so my wife to avoid the dirt on either side stamped on this mistaken concrete slab and fell into the water. She was completely immersed in the dirty water comingout of various sources beyond imagination. Luckily we were holding each other firmly that i could immediately pull her out from a canal much deeper than her height. She was totally drenched, stinking, her eyes were paining and body was itching. She got scared
And was not in her senses. The hotel staff who were witnesses helped her with water, with which she rinsed her eyes. The pain didnt subdue so we rushed to the closeby hotel 'avenue regent' and took a room where she took bath 5 times to get rid of stink, soapy solution and the itch. She lost her vanity bag and rs 5000/-. I went to nearby shop and got her clothes and a sandal. After 2 hours we vacated the room and paid the hotel expenses. When we stepped out of hotel she started experiencing severe pain on her right ankle.
2. This is second incident in my family in ernakulam. I am quite
Sure that many families in ernakulam must have suffered the same, due to sheer neglect of authorities of kochi corporation. We were lucky that we didnt take our 1 year old baby and 7 years old daughter. At a time when so many diseases are prevaling in kochi, i am keeping my fingers crossed for my wife. Was this information helpful? |
So it is difficult for the residents to live here and even pedestrians who have to pass through the way.
We humbly request you to take effective steps immediately.
