[Resolved]  Afton — Treadmill not working

I had bought a motorised treadmill belonging to the company Afton on 20th September 2011 for Rs 19000. After the warranty period, one day it stopped suddenly while I was walking on it. I reported the issue to the shop from where I had bought it (G A Sports, Kadavanthara, Cochin, Kerala; Phone number: [protected]). The technician arrived 2 days later and said that the motor had to be replaced and that it was not available then and had to be ordered from Chennai. After calling them regularly for two weeks and reminding them of my treadmill, a technician arrived and changed the motor on the eve of 7-6-2013 claiming that it had a warranty of 1 year and charged rs 6000 for motor, rs 500 for PCB repair and rs 300 service charge amouting to a total of rs 6800. Later that night, I walked for exactly 7 minutes and it abruptly came to a stop. The next day morning I called them again and reported the issue and they came 1 day later and took away particular board from the system. Then they came after 8 days to refix the motor and replace the board. Later that day, I walked on it for 11 minutes and the machine stopped working again. I contacted them again the next day and the technician again arrived after a week and took away a spare part from the machine. Then he came on[protected]after innumerable phone calls to G A Sports) and fixed the machine and extended the warranty period for the motor to 7-8-2014 after a long bargaining. That day was the only day the machine worked properly. The day after that after a walk of 17 minutes, smoke started emerging from the machine. I contacted them again and told them of the issue, the technician arrived, fixed it and tested it for 5 minutes as he had done everytime he came to fix it and proved that no smoke came from the machine. He assured me that it might be because of some carbon and that he will change it if smoke comes out again. Yesterday morning that is on 9-8-2013 when I walked on it for exactly 5 minutes, severe smoke emerged from the machine more than what had come last time and filled the entire room. I contacted them again and they said that they will send a technician by today afternoon. But no technician arrived and its nearly 4 pm. It has been three months that I have been going behind this for one problem or the other. Please help me out as I am also an Afton customer.

Hi My Name is Shahid Shaikh from Mumbai i too had a similar issue of Motor and Afton have Poor Customer Serv ice, they dont have have well trained staff. Will recommend not to but Aftom Threadmill or any health care equipment.

This is a serious issue, please be patient and read entire email. I had purchased Afton M7 treadmill from flipkart which arrived around second week of april.

The first issue which I observed is that one of the legs of treadmill does not stay on ground. To keep it levelled the person who came to assemble the machine kept a cloth beneath it.

After about 1 and half month the product started making a squeaky noise. I contacted afton service for this and they sent a service man immediately next day. The service man said the bush is damaged and will need replacement and that he will be coming within 3 days with it. Even after a month he didnt came and game same reason everytime that part has not arrived.

Finally he came to fix the treadmill TODAY, and then I found that the part with which he came does not belong to this treadmill and could not be fit. He tried to fix it forcefully but couldnt.

Also while he was fixing he fully opened the treadmill for which he forcefully removed sides of the treadmill which were stuck with double tape. And to re assemble the machine again he used some low quality tape from outside which makes a lot of noise

To remove the damaged bush he used a blade to cut it off, and when he couldnt put the new bushes into the machine he had to put the old bush back again(which was cut by blade)

I contacted the Pune branch manager Sharad for this, he said the part is not available and I will have to wait till it comes. I asked him to send his statement in an email so that I can contact flipkart for a replacement, but he didnt do it and said he cannot do anything. I asked him his email address and he still was reluctant to give me that. He kept on saying we cannot do anything in this and that I have to contact flipkart for addressing this issue.

How is this a problem with flipkart if Afton cannot fix this?. How much do I have to wait, already waited for a month? Why was the service man sent with a part belonging to different treadmill than mine? Why is the manager so irresponsible for providing service to customer?

Its been three months since i got this product and already so many problems. The manager over here doesnt care if my issue is resolved or not.

I have spent Rs.55, 000 on this and its all gone with Aftons stupid service.

Please provide a definite resolution for this problem, I still pay EMI for this product.

Afton is a big company, and I am sure you grew this much because of good customer satisfaction.
