My 92 year old mother lives in Talegaon Dabhade, near Pune. She always pays her electricity bills well before the due date and has receipts for the past 6 yrs to prove it. Her bills have never exceeded Rs 450 in all of the six years. In March 2013 she did not get her bill, and was told that they didn't send her a bill because there was a credit of Rs 300 on her account. In April 2013 she gets a bill for Rs9, 000 ! They did the exact same thing to my brother some years ago, only his bill was Rs 36, 000. My 76 year old brother has been to the MSEB office several times ever since my mother got this bill to straighten this out but every time the official in charge is out. Each time he has waited for at least forty minutes and then returned home in disgust. He is a heart patient, has had a stroke and can barely walk. Because someone in that office is careless and incompetent, the public must pay the price. The officials are rude and arrogant and I am told the only way to resolve this outrageous situation is to ' know ' someone there. Someone needs to be sacked with immediate effect there and I hope it is soon. I live in the U.S and I can't do anything from here. Would appreciate any help.
